Angry No working for next 10 days...

Some of you already know I had knee surgery a few weeks back. Doing ok there. But just when you think it's safe to hobble around...
Day before yesterday I was attacked by a 130lb pitbull. It tore my right hand wide open. I'm right handed. Had to go get several stitches. Now I'm not allowed to do anything for 10 days due to extreme risk of infection since it's my hand and the flesh was ripped rather than cut.
Of course me being me I had to take pictures before they stitched it up. I have pre stitches, an the the dressing change this morning. The dressing change looks worse than the original wound in my opinion.
Anyway now I'm stuck again and going stir crazy.
Dammit.

I'm not sure I'll post the pics in an open forum. Don't want to upset anyone or violate a rule I may not be familiar with. However, for those that really want to see I don't mind sending them in PM.
I'm morbid like that too.

It was huge. I'm thinking it had to be cross due to size. The breed isn't normally that big.

Nothing spectacular for meds, just norcos. Hurts worse now than the attack did. Probably adrenaline....

Re: No working for next 10 days...

Thanks everyone for the positive wishes and prayers. The worst part is being stuck not allowed to do anything because of the infection risk.
Good time to get caught up on the news I guess.

Sorry to hear about that and I hope you heal up quickly. Gotta be very painful! What's gonna happen to the dog.... and its owner, for that matter? Any idea why it attacked you?

No idea on dog or owner. It attacked from behind and I was in a friend's yard so it wasn't a territory thing. Some dogs are just badly handled and develop severe behavioral problems.

Those dogs usually are a waste of time in my opinion.

Time for a dirt nap for that one.

Yep. My sister (70 years old) was attacked from behind on the streets of Fresno by a pit bull, he tore her up pretty bad. The owner ran by grabbed the dog and said to her - I don't want them to take my dog away - and ran off leaving her there on the street bleeding. I don't get it.
Anyway hope you get better soon and can walk well.

Bad deal all around..... smaller dogs can be nasty too, but they don't (or can't) usually inflict as much damage as bigger ones. I have known some really sweet friendly pits so I won't condemn the breed, but a bad one is not something I would wish on anyone. And you're right, it's probably often the result of poor treatment by humans.

There are lots of people who have no business being dog owners, let alone powerful breeds.
It takes a special kind be of idiot to do that.

That really stinks to see that happened. Get well soon! And do take it easy, even though it's annoying.
