Tire Size Recommendation: 1972 C10

I've got a 1972 C10 with 15x8 Rally wheels with a 4.5" offset. The truck isn't lowered. Right now I've got some 60 Series tires on it that are a little embarassing

What tire size would work well to fill up the wheel wells a bit better but still be somewhat of a performance tire?

Thanks!

Re: Tire Size Recommendation: 1972 C10

I have the 275/60 r 15 on my truck with white letters. It looks good the way it is. They are just next to nothing shorter than a 235/75 r 15 I might like just a little narrower though but my tires had the right price when i aquired them.

I'll have to take a look; I've got some 60's on there now and they look too low profile to me...

71-C10
I have 255/70/15 on 8.5" rims all around, fills out holes nicely.
about $75 each>> http://www.experttire.com/catalog/pr...ction?id=68074
235/75/15 = 28.9"
255/70/15 = 29.1"

You can compare sizes here>> http://www.rimsntires.com/rt_specs.jsp

Re: Tire Size Recommendation: 1972 C10

Anyone thought of running 255/70R15's ( they look really good on an 8 inch rim) on a stock height truck? They are pretty much the same height as 235/75R15's but a little wider, about 3/4 of an inch. As soon as my 235/70's wear out that is what I'm going to put on my 15 x 8 Rally wheels.

Re: Tire Size Recommendation: 1972 C10

I run 255 /70's rear on the 8" ralley (nice fit). Up front I have 225/75's on a 6 1/2" van ralley to help with fender clearance on my lowered truck. crazyAL

sidewalls r to high!! trying to fill the fenderwells with tire is not the way to go at all, u gotta lower the truck. the transmission shifts different, gotta change the speedo gear (possible new leak) and the truck sways all over the road if u don't get the right tire. I put 60 series tires back on it and I plan on lowering it just a little, nothing crazy. 255/70/15 is the way to go or maybe even a 65 series tire I was thinking about today but haven't had time to look them up. gotta have white letters too!!!

I run 31X10.5X15s all the way around. If I get new tires, I'll go with 32s. Stock height, that's how I roll.
