Project 69 no name

A little about my truck to start off with. It is the very first vehicle I bought back when I was in high school. I only drove it about 5 years and then I parked it for about a decade. It is a lwb but I have always wanted a swb but didn't really want to cut up the frame so I started to look for a frame and picked up a real nice 67 swb frame today from a board member.

Somewhere during those ten years of being in storage I decided to try the whole rustoleum paint job because I couldn't afford or thought I could do a nice paint job myself. During this time I also got laid-off from my job and was fortunate enough to be able to complete collision technology at the vo-tech in my area. So now I get to strip all that old paint and start from scratch because my wife says that people will "expect" me to have a nice paint job. Whatever you say honey!

I plan on just making a nice driver with a dropped stance and bigger wheels. I'm going to focus on one thing at a time and hopefully that will keep me on track!

First thing will be to put on the front crossmember and suspension from I believe an 85. Any tips and suggestions are greatly appreciated and bare with me because progress will be slow I'm sure.

Haven't come up with a project name yet either.

Anyway here is what you all want...pics

I'll get better ones tomorrow.

Going to be in the same boat with stripping the rusto, if you could post how much difficulties you have with removing it all. Good start and looks like a fun project!

Re: Project 69 no name

I'll let you know Flick.

Ok so to not get overwhelmed with the whole thing I am going to focus on one thing at a time. First thing is going to go get the front crossmember and suspension off of an 87 truck. My search function doesn't seem to be working right now so what can I all use off of the 87? Power steering? Brake booster? Thanks.

Re: Project 69 no name

Haven't done much. Got all my front suspension stuff ordered today and picked up a stepside bed. It needs a little work and a tailgate but i thought $200 was a good find. I'll post pics later.

Re: Project 69 no name

So after reading through a bunch of builds I decided I really want to try and drive my truck as much as I can while I work on it. I will try and do big projects for winters and take my time doing this. With three small children I also don't want a "nice" truck right now.

I put a cheap rustoleum job on top of the cheap rustoleum job to make it presentable. The brakes were rebuilt and it is driving well so I'm going to enjoy it this summer.

Things I want to do this summer....

1. Shoulder seatbelts

2. New wheels and tires. Would like 20's and keep it six lug. I will be searching for what others have found to work.

3. Get emergency brakes to work.

4. Fix all the little things that pop up from the truck sitting for a decade.
