off topic - need quick help on Camaro

Having trouble with '89 Camaro w/ 305. We've got power to the coil, power from coil to distributer, but no spark. Plugs and wires look ok. We've replaced the cap, rotor, coil, and ignition control module. And the rotor is turning fine. Also, we've got 12 volts coming out of coil when ignition is in Run, and about 10 when the starter is turning.

plenty of fuel too.

Any ideas?

The first thing you need to do is spell Camaro right. Sorry just sort of a pet peeve as a former Camaro owner. Also, sorry I'm not sure what is the problem with yours. Mine was an 81 so pretty different from yours.

Did you change out the pickup coil inside the distributor? Thats the little round thing at the bottom of the unit that the shaft goes through. I have had one of those go out before and it had to be replaced.

Sorry about the spelling there - my spellings not that great as it is and the faster I type the worse it gets! That pickup coil is the one thing we haven't replaced - I will check in to that. Does the dist have to be pulled out to replace it?

I'm not sure if it's TBI or TPI because I don't know the difference - it's the injection that looks like a carberator. And you can see the jets spraying gas in so I know it has fuel.

Yes that sounds like a TBI

Not sure it'll store any codes, but it's easy to check and see.You might get lucky and the car will tell you what's wrong

your throttle body injection is spraying fuel so the ECM is getting a signal from the pick-up coil. when in the "start" mode the module controls the spark. then when it reaches 400 RPM the ECM takes over with the timing control. (then it uses the module as a triggering device.
I say the module is toast.

although it is possible the coil is weak. check to see if the coil is being triggered. use a test light between the WHITE wire of the coil & ground. while cranking it should flash. if it does the coil may have a open in the primary side. if not the module is bad.
