Suicide hood

I've seen it on some truck on here but can't locate it. Does anyone remember what is used to suicide the hood on our trucks, putting the hinges on the front?

Like the truck HERE

Re: Suicide hood

Don't bother with that overpriced AutoLoc/Hoffman Group junk ... go to a local junk yard and take a peep under the hood of a mid to late 80's Buick Electra or a Park Avenue ...

Re: Suicide hood

Actually, you have it backwards... Suicide hood is what we have now. Years ago, I saw one that flew backwards and smashed the windshield...
I guess driver didn't latch it proplerly and/or safety latch was probably broken.

Personally, I like the way it is now. It's easier to work on the engine. Seems like one would be limited to the sides for access.

you want '86-'91 Buick lesabre or park ave...they look like this:

international scout II's also had 'suicide hoods', so you may want to check into that.

i used to have an '88 lesabre, and one time i did an oil change and forgot to latch the hood, i just laid it back down and thought it was latched, then did a short trip on the highway...the hood just came straight up and the hinges hit their stops...didn't smash the window or do any damage, but i did have to pull bits of the seat fabric out of my butthole

Re: Suicide hood

i used the buick ones...they worked pretty good...just had to run a couple of braces on the hood and mount them to the core support ...plus they were cheap too...good ol pull a part..lol
