GMC grill help

is there a differance in the top of the grill on a 67-68gmc and the 69-72gmc?is it a seperate piece? trying to decide what gmc grill i am going to use. I like the 67-68 hood but only have 60-72 gmc grills.

Yes the top bars are different between 67-68 and 70-72 grilles.

Re: GMC grill help

You might be right. LMC shows the upper bar for 69-72, and eyebrow and hood trim for 68. Maybe one of the GMC guys will jump in.

Re: GMC grill help

All GMC grilles are interchangable. The top bar depends on which hood you use.

Re: GMC grill help

67 and 68 use a painted small top bar, 69 - 72 uses a large chrome top bar.

If you look at the grill on the far right you can see the painted top bar on a 68 grill.. the rest are 69 - 72's.. the hood latchs and grill supports are also different.. and 67/68 used a lower splash apron on the bottom of the grill

Re: GMC grill help

That Pattson info is inaccurate on a few counts:
*67/68 has no top bar attached to hood.
*67 has no trim surround.
*3 groups are 67,68-70,and 71/72.

Re: GMC grill help

LIVRAT,

what does the bottom splash pan look like? Pictures? could you get a closer up of the 68 painted bar? What holds the top bar on?

Re: GMC grill help

I will get some pictures of both tomorrow and post them for you..

All of the GMC top bars were originally riveted to the grill..

Re: GMC grill help

Thanks for the pictures livrat. That helps clear it up. now to decide what hood I want to use. The 67-68 or the 69-72. I am going to use a 68-70 grill. I like the grill with out the cenet black paint. just lots of shine
