Re: Fired my painter....

"just a little bit off topic" <- What do you guys think is a fair price for a good factory color paint job on a truck that wont need much bodywork? Im talkin body off every thing painted like from factory. my dad had a friend that used to do bodywork and paint better than just about anyone, but he got out of the car business. What is fair for a small shop to charge?

Re: Fired my painter....

If they take it all apart to paint it...I mean doors off, cab off, glass out Like mine was done....I paid $3500 and it is a two stage paint job, base coat and then clear coat. I am told I got a smokin deal.....But I had to wait a year. I had another painter tell me a good paint job the way my truck was done could run you $7000.00.

Re: Fired my painter....

That sounds about right ChevyDude. $3500 was a smokin deal if you hadn't had to wait so long.

Re: Fired my painter....

i work in a restoration/collision shop and bascially we work on the restorations 40hrs a week and then bill the person and then when we recieve payments, then we work another 40hrs on them....unless a customer puts a good amount down and then we'll do as much as the money will take him.....we have enough guys in the shop to balance out both...but it all comes down to people having enough money to finish their projects! it is unfortunate that alot of people have dealt with retarded bodyshops who don't really give two craps about the work they do just production. but there are some body shops out there that do it right and on time! that's my 2 cents
