Curious how you guys mount the lower radiator brackets
Working on a 71. The factory used B/A rivets for the brackets for about a 11/32" hole. Sure I can use 5/16" bolts, bought some button heads for it and spacers, cuz no getting on regular nut without a spacer of some sort.
I may try rivet nuts, but the thing is, the core support hole is protruded upward, perhaps from the B/A rivets the factory used. I hear the nuts are intended for a flat surface. Suppose I could pound out a powder coated core support but probably won't

Re: Curious how you guys mount the lower radiator brackets
One shows why a spacer for a regular nut, unless a guy assumes to service the brackets with the core support off. Not sure a rivet nut would take as is. I could probably pound that flat cleanly, but then again the core supports are tough, so I think I'd prefer using a regular nut.
That's a monster of a rivet they used, I'm assuming they were factory, I don't have a picture of one. EDIT: I ended up pounding where it lifted some, didn't bother the finish. The factory didn't install the brackets from start, top and bottom, which is why so many shrouds were hit by fan blades. Ordered an assortment of these. https://www.aa-mfg.com/product/aa-57...16-od-5-16-id/

Those should work...I've had to make similar spacers before...I had a bunch of 1/4 and 3/8 sch80 pipe for that type stuff...
