Putting a 73 grill in a 79 truck?

What is involved with it? Seems there is a support that goes right down the center that will need to be swapped out fot the 73 grill? Any insite here?

You also need the 2 side supports from the 73, there are not any holes
for them but if you look closely at the rad support there are 2 small indents where you need to drill. I have done it a couple times and it is fairly easy.

Speaking of swapping grills, anyone swap an 77-80 style grill into an 80's with the square headlights?

It bolts right on when you properly put an entire 73-80 front clip on. other than that it wont work.

No, 73-80s and 81-87s (or 91s if still square) are very different from the firewall forward. If you swap, you need to swap the entire front clip, fenders hood core support, even the wipers need attention. I believe going from 81-87 to 73-80 is easier, but i have never done it myself.

Ah, read that wrong, got a lil' excited. So if the truck is a 1980 with the square grill I still have to swap the entire front clip? I guess I will have to find that out if I manage to buy it :s

Your marker lights horizontal or verticle? if its a 1980 with the one year square headlights, you can swap in an earlier style but i believe you just need to change the core support. Never done it, And preserve the 1980 only square headlight stuff. Someday somebuddys gonna want it.
