Exclamation Ignition help!!!

I just go0t my engine back from the builder and im haveing issues getting it to fire. I installed a new electric fuel pump and am getting right at 7psi at the carb so no fueling issue, and i layed a plug on the frame and it sparked so im getting spark but it still will not fire at all just cranks till its flooded. I checked then double checked the wire and they are all in the right spots. Im at the end of ideas with it. I have an MSD ignition with the 6A box and when the key is turned on i hear an audable cherp like sound conming from it. Anyone ever had this issue? I have to have it running by tomarrow night as I have to use it for work Tuesday morning so i need some help fast. Thanks everyone.

Re: Ignition help!!!

Pull the plugs and see if they are wet, if they are change them. Why is it flooding? Are you pumping the gas pedal? Electric choke?
What kind of carb?

yea the plugs are were really wet, yes I was pumping it tryn to get it to fire, its electric choke but its not hooked up right now. Edelbrock 750. its too big for truck but worked just fine before I had the motor rebuilt.

Re: Ignition help!!!

I needed to put a regulator on my edelbrock and they say that they don't like anything over say 5 psi. Change the plugs and try 2 pumps, and a 750 could be a bit big for a mild small block

Re: Ignition help!!!

The pump needs to regulated down to 4.5 or 5 psi. Change the plugs and check your timing. It may be off enough to cause it not to fire.

Re: Ignition help!!!

How did you set the timing? I would agree the distributor is out 180. Fairly common problem on starting/timing a new engine.
