Easy centerbolt head question
Hi,
I've got some Pro Topline vortec heads that I'm using on the new engine for my 71 Blazer. Questions are: 1) Will I have to run tall valve covers with full roller rockers? I know that's true of side-bolt valve covers, but centerbolts seem much taller. 2) Stock alternater placement is pretty close to the drivers side valve cover. Will I have problems with the valve covers from question 1? Thanks! Brian |

I am not sure about clearance under the covers for the rockers, you may just have to try them to see. You will likely have problems with the alternator. When I put Vortec heads on my '70, I could not use the original slotted adjustment arm that came on the truck. I used one off a '72 parts truck that I had, and it was longer, allowing for more outward adjustment of the alternator.

Blazer,
Thanks very much! I'll try to track one of those down. Brian |
