I have Heddmans. The PO had mismatched rams horn stock exhausts. One was pre-smog, and the other had holes for A.I.R. inputs. Different displacements. New hedders were more practical than stock exhausts.

I've read 4 or 5 threads on headers and not one mentions problems on the starter side of the engine. That has always been the biggest problem with headers in my history, esp my 1971 C10. The headers are actually touching the starter! I recently purchased it and have not driven it enough that the starter won't turn.......but I am sure it would happen except that I am going to put manifolds on it before it happens.

Have Doug's on 2 if my junks.
One is tri Y on a 454
And a 4-1 long tube on a sb 400.

Haven't put a wrench gasket or anything on either set in years.

As with anything you'll get what you pay for.

I run headman headers on my trucks
My dad ran hooker headers on his truck
Good gaskets tighten well not over tight
Never had starter issues
Ran several trucks with rams horn too
Old rams horn manifolds a pain as they tend to be easy to break
