Exhaust thoughts

My 70 has a major exhaust leak. It has the original ram horn manifold. The PO replaced the rest of the system with glass packs. It looks like there maybe a crack in the down pipe coming from the manifold. Should I replace the manifold or just the down pipe? Thoughts fellas?

Re: Exhaust thoughts

If the manifold isn't cracked or warped, I see no reason to replace it.

Yup, just replace the cracked downpipe.

Re: Exhaust thoughts

Can you see a crack in the down pipe or is that where the sound is coming from?

The down pipe probably has a doughnut gasket on it and it could be loose, blown or completely missing. Have you tried just tightening the pipe at the manifold?

Re: Exhaust thoughts

Ram horn manifolds are generally regaurded as high quality , high performance manifolds , work well and are worth keeping
