Attepmted amputation

first or second time welder haha but welded all the holes and two of the 4 stake pockets and was grinding one of my not so pretty welds and not having all wood planks in the 68 stepper bed i slipped and the grinder caught the end of my index finger and cut it nearly off.. overall learned a little about welding hahaha

I was filling in the holes that all the PO had put in over the years I was upsizing some of the holes with my half inch drill using a half inch bit, when it caught spun the handle around an cought me under my right eye , yep instant black eye, of course it was good for several laughs latter when i had to go to my wifes office party , all night long I would just say Yes Dear !!!!

Re: Attepmted amputation

Ah a finger is nothing I once had an 8" grinder kick back on me and came about 2-3" from taking my manhood. Thank god I was wearing coveralls it got wrapped up in them and stopped the motor before it could do any serious damage but definatly scared me.

Re: Attepmted amputation

I was using a cut-off wheel on my 4.5" grinder a few days ago and it came apart. Luckily I had on safety glasses and only got a few hurt spots on my face.

I guess I will have to quit using the keep cut-off wheels, lol.

Angry power tools or angry women...stay away from both. One can make you bleed, the other can make you bleed AND take half of your stuff!

Re: Attepmted amputation

today I had a 4.5" cutoff wheel on my grinder blow apart and it was about 10" away from my face, also I moved my sawzall and hit the trigger by accident while my finger was up against the trigger. Luckily neither incident caused any blood loss!

However I did hit my self with a hammer two times while I was beating out rivets and holding a center punch, no blood but did cause a few profanities!

Re: Attepmted amputation

I'd probably take a trip to the doctor or urgent care in the morning to make sure its good and cleaned out. If you miss any little pieces of grinding wheel that are in there, you could get a pretty nasty infection.

My father had a grinder kick back at work and skip up his forearm while laying on his back working overhead. Didn't sink deep enough to even bleed, and he cleaned it up/wrapped it as best he could asap. Still ended up with a trip to the doc, a mild infection, and some antibiotics.
