I have read some older threads on oil filters... thought I would get a new thread going ... NAPA Gold - Part FIL 1069 or Baldwin B7 seem to be two of the preferred filters but the Baldwin is harder to locate.

What is your preference ... my truck has the 402BB and best place to purchase. Thanks

I was and still am a Wix guy, but Blueprint recommended a K&N filter for my 355 so that's what I went with.

NAPA Gold is a WIX

I use WIX only in all my cars. Generally, I buy them from Amazon

I use the Wix 51060R in my big block and the Baldwin B6 in the small block. The Wix 51060R flows more oil, no bypass...

I also use Wix or acdelco filters .I know the 51060r flows better but at a cost of letting larger particles through, the 51060R is rated to 61microns where the 51069 have a 21 micron rating . My builder recommended not using the racing filter for street use .

You race the big block correct?

For my 402 big block I use a Mobil 1 part number 302, $10 at walmart.

WIX 51060 and 51061.
One's got anti-drainback for the L6 292*, the other on a V8, is on the bottom of the engine, so the anti-drainback isn't necessary.
I forgot which is which.

[*Where the Oil Filter screws onto the side of the block.]

I use Wix since the PF35 was discontinued. I used to use the long version which is a 51794 because it gave extra capacity (and extra filtering). But the Corvette engine in my K20 already had a 6 qt pan so I figure that is enough.

Pretty much I use Wix on all my vehicles. The 70 I use a Wix 51069, but it also has a remote filter system also like the semis use.

Update

It looks like NAPA Wix Gold Oil Filter 51060 is prefered. I found them at a local NAPA for under $9 each. I could likley get them less but once you add shipping costs not much is saved. I think I will go this route.

O'riellys also has Wix filters. That is where I get mine.

Using dino oil and changing it every 3,000 miles most all of the top brands will serve you fine , The Wix filters are painted black so you don't see the leaks .

Paid $1200; sold for $1500 a few years later. Just a hint at the appreciation that was coming. Retired as a factory automation products salesman. Worked part-time over the years for an engine builder and a classic car repair shop. Member here for 23 years! This is the very first car/truck Internet forum I joined. I still used a dial-up modem back then!
