Re: Factory pink trucks...

Already Gone needs to pipe up on this one.

This color had to be a fleet color. Maybe Mary Kay needed a pickup.

Yeah, but you're biased to one truck in particular.

I know in the vintage Pontiac world that production volumes were not kept relative to special colors.

I'd have to guess that's the case with trucks as well (...unless we learn something differently later on in this thread).

I dont know about Chevrolet, but GMC offered a special order paint option and it didnt have to be pink. You could choose it. We ordered special green paint on our GMC back in 1969. I was 17 but I remember well, I drove that truck in High school and for a number of years after.

IIRC "Ice Coral Pink" was a one year GMC Canadian color for a promo.I believe 1969.

Many women, and many men who are confident of their masculinity (even some who aren't).

No numbers kept on any options,as far as I know. Just models.

Absolutely. We build fleets and/or specials in any color imaginable. Railroad orange, state park green, state police blue, even purple and red (together) for the RCMP.

Most of the plants have a separate paint line (paint repair) with a pot that they can load small quantities of paint to shoot from.

Re: Factory pink trucks...

Color was part of a "spring promotion" offered by GM, most likely Canada only. same deal as my lime green. They were factory offered colors, although Dupont has no records of these Lucite shades in their archives, so matching is by guess or maybe with the new color sensing guns in use now. I have owned some lime trucks, seen a few pink, never a mauve or green metallic, and they were all 1971 models. My Oh Green is non metallic lime, just as the pink is also non metallic. This help any?

Check this out:

Wow that makes it probably makes it an extremely rare find. Problem is its not a popular color. Unique for sure.

But seriously, what's cool about it is, it's a unusual and rare color.

Re: Factory pink trucks...

Owens Corning might have wanted one. There's member here from Canada with that other green color. These were special promo colors, but like Keith said, fleets get their own colors of off of the standard fleet-only selection of half dozen or so timeless colors. Like Allied or Mayflower moving vans, those colors are standard fleet colors. I ordered my '92 and had the dealer ask GMC if they'd let me have a fleet color. They said I could as long as I was willing to wait for five more trucks in that color to be ordered. Heck yeah! It took 6 weeks before the order got started

Re: Factory pink trucks...

I have a couple of pink shirts schrum, you can borrow one if you like. The chicks dig it, trust me. What the heck I'm married I will give you one.

Who would buy a new camaro, challenger, or mustang with pink racing stripes or full pink wrap? I see quite a few around. I would guess women and they sell good so.... Just having a little fun here, no negativity.

I had no idea pink was a factory color, I always wondered why "alreadygone" would paint a truck pink but now I understand. I love the odd ball and Rare head scratcher options and like to see them preserved. I learned something new
