Hey all,

Glad the membership opened back up.
In Dec. '21 I bought what I've been wanting for years... a '69 C10 Stepside shorty. Wasn't really looking for one but it fell in my lap while looking for another project after selling my LS swapped '69 Camaro.

It's in great shape...must have been a Southern truck at some point. Unfortunately it's running a carbed '79 Nova 305. We'll see how long I keep that.
Past owner did power steering, power disk brakes on 2" drop spindles up front, and dropped the truck with a mini C-notch on AccuAir bags with a Viair compressor system. That's what really sold me. It's got that 53 year old patina...which I'm undecided on keeping or not. Everyone keeps telling me to leave it that way.
We'll see.

I'm super pumped about it. Trying to finish fixing up the little stuff before Spring so I can hit the road in it. Damn you Winter weather!

Welcome! I'd say leave the exterior as is so that you can work out all the mechanical stuff you want to do while still being able to drive it

Thanks...
Yeah, my budget is vapor, so the body and engine have to stay for a while. There's plenty to do in the meantime...when I'm not driving it. Only body work I'm doing is repairing the bottoms of the doors which I've already got the sheet metal for.
Ready to fire up the welder.

Re: NY member

Well, not knowing the history of it yet, I can say it wasn't a NY truck. Someone already took care of the cab corners and bottom of fenders a long time ago, but the chassis and the rest is very solid. I've removed the doors and gutted them to clean and lube everything inside, and they're amazingly clean. What little rust there is in them is confined to the very bottom. The bed is in way better shape than you'd expect, except the wood of course.
