Got My Canadian Resto-Packet Today

The Good News is my truck isn't as much of a "Mutt" as I thought it was. Some of the info...

VEHICLE: 1969 Chev PU
TRIM: 631 - Black
PAINT: 544 - Red/White
PRODUCTION PLANT: Oshawa,ON
PRODUCTION DATE: November 12, 1968
SHIPPING DATE: November 12, 1968
MODEL NUMBER: KE10934 - 4wd 1/2 ton fleetside longbox
ENGINE: 307 CID 200 HP 2bbl V8
DEALER: Richardson Auto Sales Ltd. St Mary's, ON
NUMBER PRODUCED FOR SALE IN CANADA: 208

OPTION
BX2 - Mouldings:Body Side,Rocker Panel, Wheel Opening
D99 - Special Two-Tone Paint,Moulding
F76 - Front Wheel Locking Hub (DANA)
P47 - 15x5.5 - 6 Stud Wheels
Z49 - Manidatory Canadian Base Equip Modifications

As of now I know my truck still retains the original to the Truck Black Body Mouldings, Although painted a few times still has the original Factory Two-Tone Paint Scheme.

Now I have a few Q's...

Anyone got pics of what Opt # P47 looks like? Are they the old type of spilt rim or something else? Also, Canadian production numbers must be low if mine is 1 of 208. Just seems very low maybe Gee Emm could help me shed some light on that Question as his 2wd Jimmy was one of 112 or any other Canadian Member for that matter that has recieved this package. On another note I have a deluxe tailgate (has holes for both top and bottom trim) would my two tone paint option warrant a deluxe trimmed tailgate? Or is it likely an add on from when the previous owner semi-restored her?

Thanks in adavance!

I thought I'd include a few pic's of my Truck too...

Your tailgate should have upper and lower mouldings by virtue of having body side mouldings. Looks like they were deleted during a previous paint job.

The wheels are 15 inch steel wheels, not split to my knowledge. Split rims were only on the 3/4 ton 16.5 inch variety. It could be that they were a special width rim? Regardless, they'd have looked nice with a set of dog dish caps

I don't think that the wheels are anything special. I would have to look at the list on the glovebox door but I think that my wheels would be the same and they are just ordinary wheels that would have originally had the dog dish hubcaps.

Dubie, all you have to do is call the toll free number and have your Vin # handy when they ask you for it. The toll free number is 1-888-467-6853. It says to call between 8am and 5pm. They will also want your home address and mail box # and related info as to send you the package. If it hasn't changed in the last 5 weeks (how long I waited for this package to arrive) it was a $45.00 fee and with tax it came to $48.15 Canadian funds. They do need a Credit Card to make payment. I put it on my Visa card.

I was really pleased with it. Considering my build sheets and glove box info sheet no longer exist it was invaluable to me. I still have a Big Grin on my face

Thanks for the tailgate trim info CPNE! Another Q tho...would my truck have come with dog dish hub caps if they were not listed on the option sheet? If so would they have been painted or chrome?

I would think so. I've never seen painted 4x4 caps so probaly chrome ones like these.

LUV2XCLR8 They do have that service here in the US. I believe it is 1 800 222 1020. Ask for the Restoration Package. And one other thing, while it is not vin specific, it is free here.

I got the info that my Jimmy is one of 112 sold in Canada from another guy here that also has a 72 Jimmy 2wd that is in Canada and he sent away for the info pack.

Is that all you get for the $50? The only thing that I would be interested in for my truck is its birthday and where it was sold, not sure if that info is worth $50 though.

As for all you get with this package well...on one page everything I typed (minus a few lines I didn't bother to type out) above is all the info they have specific to your Truck. Included with that sheet is two stacks of photocopies about a 1/4 inch thick (of what looks like pages from a dealer data book) one with Standard Equipment Lists,Manfacturer's Suggested Costs,Option #'s , axle ratio's,Transmission Data,Transfer Case Data,Driveline Data etc, etc. The other one lists Engine Data,Cooling Systems, Clutches, Fuel Tanks etc, etc.

Basically if you have access to a Dealer Data Book I can see how the "bulk" of this Package will seem redunant. Although as I was saying before I don't have a Build Sheet or Glove Box Option Sheet for my Truck so all of this info was invaluable to me. As for the little "Tid Bits" like your Truck's Birthday (My Truck's Birthday is the same as my Mother's! Nov. 12th!), Dealer sold to and how many other trucks like yours were produced that year...well this is the only way to find those things out that I know of even if it costs $50. Another thing to consider too is for they do have to pay someone to look the stuff up for you, copy it and mail it off to you.

Unless someday they open the GM Vaults to the general public, so you can drop by Oshawa whenever you want to look something up yourself to cut the costs....the choice is of course your own wether it's worth the cost.

Anywho I just felt like wasting $50 I guess

Brian

I think its worth it to prove when it may be time to sell or perhaps during an insurance claim that its not a cloned version..but an authentic vehicle...appraisers like the document to prove its value also. I've seen a guy put, with bills to prove, a total of $20,000 into a 67 here and call it a CST with the correct trim and badges but the appraiser would only value it at $13,000 because it wasn't a true CST.

Basically the page they write for you looks like this... and I've posted it before to show people in Canada what they would get along with the dealer data book pages they copy for you.

Good Point Rod...I have put off appraising my Truck far too long. This document will be of more use now.

I got the GM Resto packet and it didn't have anything related to C/20's and C/30's. It only showed stuff for 1/2 tons. The dude on the phone said they only had one for 1970. I doubt that, but to put it short all I did was waste my time.(30 min's on the phone)

Some yeqrs have thicker packets...70 is a pretty lame one. Call back and get the one for 69, it has tons of info in there. I have all but 72, I need to call them and get that one.
