72 Highlander big block suburban

Finally got to bring my 72 highlander suburban home from being stored at my grandparents for the last 15 years. Excited to have it back and a place to work on it.

Re: 72 Highlander big block suburban

Keeping it all original except lowering it and putting some nice rims and tires. Planning on leaving the patina for now and once a finish some others projects strip it down and start restoring it.

Re: 72 Highlander big block suburban

Yours is very similarly optioned to mine, except for the Highlander interior which I definitely like more. I don't think I've seen a green/white Highlander Burb before, thanks for sharing the pics.

Re: 72 Highlander big block suburban

Judging by the heater box it was owned by a CAT mechanic. I like it even more now. It's so unmolested!

Yes it looks like we have twin suburbans besides the highlander interior. Looks like you have a super cool suburban as well. Would love to see some pictures!

It does look like a CAT mechanic had it with the yellow box. It's the only 67-72 that I have ever seen have a yellow one. The crazy thing is that it hasnt been painted. Looks like the plastic just yellowed or something. It's weird.

Nice Burbs. Mine was White/med Olive but someone painted it white/olive/white.

68chevycst, is that the original med olive paint just faded to grey/silver?

Yes it is faded to a grey/silver. I think I will wet sand it and see if it buffs out.

Re: 72 Highlander big block suburban

Thanks, it's been in my family for more than 45 years. I'm thinking it is time for someone else to enjoy it, so it will probably be for sale in the near future. Good luck with yours.

Re: 72 Highlander big block suburban

Here's mine 2500 GMC. Sorry, need to get more interior pictures same interior as the one that sold. Ordered new upholstery to change to highlander and plan on adding a 1972 402 with TH400 from another GMC. Factory AC and Rear AC. Two rows of seats only for plenty of cargo room and the dog.

Re: 72 Highlander big block suburban

Thank you, it will be going to a new home just outside Dayton, Ohio. The buyer seems like a good guy and his family is excited about getting the Suburban. Still have it with me for another week or so until the shipper comes to pick it up in an enclosed trailer. Good luck with your project, I will still be lurking here now and again.

P.S. After the auction I bought one of these just for the heck of it:

If those are the headliner panels I see in the first pic, I'd save them to use as patterns later down the road. Love the burd!
