Re: Pink's 68/72 - Dropmember Equipped Build
I finished welding up the bottom of the frame, cleaned it up and hit it with a rattle can. Then I flipped it over and worked on finishing up the welds on top. I'm almost done, just a few spots to touch up. Here's a pic of the front end cleaned up and painted black. I'll have some more pictures up this weekend of the entire frame.

Re: Pink's 68/72 - Dropmember Equipped Build
Got some more work done the last few days. Also started researching some more parts. I think I'm going to be ordering the AZProPerformance 14" big brake kit. Anybody have any experience with this kit? They say it is made by Baer as a budget upgrade compared to their other kits. http://www.azproperformance.com/67-7...o-Performance/
The front crossmember and modified body drop brackets are back on. Finished welding and grinding on the shock towers. Both are painted and shock mounting bolts installed. Got the frame stiffener painted and mounted. Also taped up the trailing arms since they are already powder coated and then got them installed. All of the painted parts will eventually be powder coated. I was just tired of dealing with rusty parts so I decided to spray paint them. |

Re: Pink's 68/72 - Dropmember Equipped Build
I have the 14" big brake kit from AZ Pro. I'm only in the mock up stage but it looks like nice components and I haven't seen anything in the kit that made me have any concerns.
You're making good progress looks awesome. |

Good to know, thanks for the input. I think I'm going to order that kit in the next couple months.

Re: Pink's 68/72 - Dropmember Equipped Build
I got the rear bridge out, cleaned up and painted. Then I got the rear end installed. Unfortunately, when I was trying to center the rear end and square everything up I discovered an issue with my frame stiffener. I talked to Nate at PBFab and he is going to send me out a replacement right after the new year. Great Customer Service!

Your frame looks great! I plan to mold in the kit too.

Re: Pink's 68/72 - Dropmember Equipped Build
I'd consider Holley over Fitech. They've been around forever and tons of tuning support out there. Fitech is going through some growing pains.

Rear bag mounts are tacked in place.
I also got the Boyd tank mocked up. I should be drilling the holes and mounting it tomorrow. Last edited by Pinky6872; 12-24-2017 at 08:55 PM. |

Re: Pink's 68/72 - Dropmember Equipped Build
Installed the sway bar today. I also started working on modifying the drop spindles for the big brake kit. The sawzall worked good for the big cut and now I'll work on smoothing out the cut with a grinder.

Re: Pink's 68/72 - Dropmember Equipped Build
Over the holidays I ordered a transmission for the truck. It's a Stage 2 Performabuilt 4l60e that is rated for 700 hp. I also finished prepping the drop spindles for the Pro Performance big brake kit and dropped them off at the powder coater this morning. So far, I'm very impressed with the quality of the brake kit and detailed instructions.

Re: Pink's 68/72 - Dropmember Equipped Build
Took the engine outside and cleaned it up with some degreaser. I think I need to do one more scrub down to get it fully clean. I also ordered these valve cover adapters from CFR Performance. They are pretty sweet as they will allow me to run SBC valve covers and hide the coil packs under them.

Re: Pink's 68/72 - Dropmember Equipped Build
I haven't decided if I want to paint the entire engine black or leave it bare aluminum with black accessories. I started off by painting the covers and will mount the black accessories to see how it looks before committing to painting the whole thing.
While the engine was out, I changed both the front and rear seals so I hopefully don't have to deal with any leaks. After that, I bolted up the trans and put it in the frame to set all my driveline angles and weld on my rear bag brackets. Talk about a tight fit. I think I might add a washer in between the crossmember and rack to space it out a little. With the current spacing, I think when the engine revs, it might move enough to touch the rack. |

Re: Pink's 68/72 - Dropmember Equipped Build
Got a few deliveries this week. One was my new valve covers which I'm really happy with.
The other was something that I've been waiting 9 months for! |

Re: Pink's 68/72 - Dropmember Equipped Build
I started making and installing the fuel lines using -6AN braided hose.
I had a set of 17" wheels I was planning to roll the chassis around on but of course they didn't clear the brakes. I'm not sure what wheels I want to run in the end but I needed something now so I picked up a set of 20" Ridler wheels (20x8.5 fronts and 20x10 rears). These look great for the price and will make a good wheel for a daily driver in the future. |
