71 GMC came my way

Added a 71 GMC to the herd last night. Still on the trailer. Owner asked "would I buy it for X number dollars" so I said let me take a better look at it. Popped the hood & saw a rebuilt looking big block with factory air. Shut the hood & said "I'll take it".
Paint sux but looks to be a rust free old girl.
Forgot to mention that she runs, drives, AC blows cold, & passed emissions.

Looks like a good one. What are you're plans for it? Give it a good once over and drive it?

Still to be determined. Originally planned to just flip it. Saw how clean, rust free, & big block made me rethink that plan. Never find another one like it.

Being a fellow Phoenix native, I am dismayed I have yet to run into a deal like that. You are very well connected or just very lucky. That is a nice 3/4t you have added to the fleet. Congratulations.

You & me both. NEVER have I popped the hood & there be a complete running big block with air. Right place, right time. She got it in the divorce, middle of moving out, really had no long term place to store it.

I agree. My wife said "YOU'RE NOT GONNA SELL THIS ONE ARE YOU"? It's too nice.
Perfect bed floor. Looks like it had a camper in it it's whole life.

Re: 71 GMC came my way

sweet little work truck.

two questions:
1) Owner asked "would I buy it for X number dollars" - did you see an add and go look at it, or was it a gas-station impromptu buy? just curious, I always wonder how many deals are done just on a whim...
2) Passed emissions?! I am in cali, and even in our TERRIBLE smog state we dont need to smog '75 and older vehicles, you need emissions tests on a 71??

1) I was doing a favor for my neighbor who told her he would ask me to tow off another old truck (51 chev was her dads to nephews house). So I was doing my good deed for the year. He also had mentioned to her that I might be interested in buying this one cause he knew she wanted to sell it.
2) yes. Every vehicle made after 66 must pass emissions here in AZ unless you obtain classic car insurance which I always do.
