4/7 Drop Tire size and bs

I have been looking and searching but couldn't find anything.

I have a 71 SWB with a Ridetech coilover setup which gives me a 4/7 static drop. It has a 12 bolt rear end. What is the max tire/rim size can I use, without rubbing or tubbing out. I read that you can go up to s 315 would fit but cant find anything on the backspacing specs. If anyone have a similar setup please post tire size and backspacing.

Thanks in advance.

Re: 4/7 Drop Tire size and bs

I have an ECE 4/6 kit with a 1"block for the rear making it a 4/7. I have 17 x 8 American Racing TTII's with 255/55/17 on all four corners. I have no rubbing issues front or rear. The rear is c-notched.

What backspace did you use? I like the idea of the 255 on front but was hoping to use 235 70/15 on front and 275 60/15 on the rear.

No worries C10Dream'n just I have the same issue on my current setup.

Michael Thanks I was thinking that the 4.5 or 5 would be the bet fit.

These were 17 inch billet specialties 10 inch wide wheels with 5 inch back spacing and 295 70 tires on the back. Can't remember the front tire size but the wheels were 8 inch wide 17s

Re: 4/7 Drop Tire size and bs

My truck is a stepside so a little less room in the wheel well, but I have 275 55 17 on 17 x 9 wheels with 5" backspacing. They fit well on the truck but I have the rear end blown apart so I haven't driven it yet, but with a fleetside you should have a TON of room for a much bigger tire than the 275. I have a leafspring truck with axle flip so about 6 1/2" lowering.

edit: the reason the rear is apart is I swapped in a '71-'72 wider axle because the 5" backspacing would not work with that wheel/tire combo on a stepside otherwise.

On the front I have 2 1/2" spindles, 2" springs and 235 55 17 on 17 x 8 with 4 1/2" backspacing.

Re: 4/7 Drop Tire size and bs

Mine has a ECE 4/6. 255/50/18 on the front and 295/40/20 on the rear. There is plenty of room for more tire on the back. I want a little taller tire on the rear to match up the sidewalls a little better. Sorry I can't remember the backspace.

Re: 4/7 Drop Tire size and bs

I am also enjoying the feedback in this thread because I am building a step side and want to use 17" wheels and plenty of you giving feedback are also using the same diameter wheels

Re: 4/7 Drop Tire size and bs

Anyone else? Decided to run 17x9 on back with 275/50 17 5" backspace.

But the front I am going with 17 x 8 255/50 17, Would the 4.5" work?
I did read that a few did go with that B.S but unsure what their drop is.

Chevys10dr can you post a pic of your truck with the ridetech set up? I have the same kit but still far away from installing it. Thanks

Re: 4/7 Drop Tire size and bs

Here's a pic of my truck. Once again, a stepside which limits tire size. 275 55 17 on 17x9 with 5" bs in the rear. 235 55 17 on th 17x8 4.5" bs front.
