ctsy 20amp fuse popping

my ctsy fuse keeps popping found someone previously damaged the fuse box connection for the fuse so i hooked up a external fuse holder outside the box. it still pops every now n then. also just found previous owner spliced the brake light harness to connect a trailer harness and just twisted and electrical taped it and connector pins are corroded. gonna clean up the wiring is there something else i should look at as well?

Re: ctsy 20amp fuse popping

Check the "new wiring" that the PO put in, especially if it goes through the firewall, for a short and work your way all the way back to the trailer plug. Not sure what type of plug you have or what the circumstances are when it blows the fuse. I have seen some shoddy work when it comes to wiring in trailer plugs and even wiring the trailer itself. Good luck and let us know what you find out.

Re: ctsy 20amp fuse popping

my dome harness, brake harness cleaned up, and all grounds are good and cleaned all connections. 20amp ctsy fuse still blowing and my radio harness is good. can't find anything shorting or back feeding to the brakes or dome.
