What mirrors did my truck have originally? 1983

I assumed the big mirrors were original but now I'm not so sure it didn't have the little default sport mirrors. What makes me think that is no mirror called out on the SPID and the rivets in the area where sport mirrors mount. Although the rivets pattern isn't where I'd expect sport mirror mount holes to me. 3 reverse pattern holes? Also, this truck was outfitted with a number of heavy towing features when I got it. i.e 5th wheel hitch, gooseneck ball mount in bed, spark retard unit, trailer brake controller, and in bed fuel tank.

Re: What mirrors did my truck have originally? 1983

The small fixed arm 5 7/16" x 4" chrome (sport) mirrors were standard/base equipment. The larger below-eyeline mirrors like you have were optional and would be on the SPID if the truck was ordered with them, RPO D44 (painted) or D45 (stainless). Same goes for Camper mirrors (DF2) and west coast mirrors (DG5), both options. Not seeing a mirror option on the SPID means the small fixed arm 5 7/16" x 4" chrome mirrors were original.

Original sport mirrors on my 83, the forward rivet and the back bolt look like they were where the base for the sport mirrors was mounted.

I was just googling the mirrors you listed. Doesn't the original poster have the camper(df2) mirrors? D45 mirrors appear to be the classic "Dumbo" mirrors. Are D44 mirrors the same thing, but without chrome?

Also, is there any way to search for RPO code by year? I'd love to find a site where I can plug in 1987, and know that any code I see will be accurate for that year. It's proven very frustrating, sorting through GM's constant re-use of RPO codes.

You can look at each year and the options/standard equipment at the GM Heritage Center's website.

The DF2 mirrors are what I have on my '74 K20 pictured. Looking at the OP's pictures it looks like he's got DF2 mirror heads (these have a taller mounting post than the D44/D45 mirrors) with the D45 tripod/legs. There are some examples on this thread as well- found by googling. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=705039
The D45 and D44 are the same below-eyeline mirrors, just one is painted and the other is stainless.

Holes could be from a CB antenna mount.
