Another one of my non chevy projects...........

Seeing how many of you can't see the love for a "Real" truck, I couldn't put the name of the truck in the thread. This is a truck I traded labor on and now am in the middle of a dang restoration. Poor truck was beat to death. It is a 95 F-350 crew cab long box that started out as a 460 5 speed truck. Now it has a 91 5.9 cummins and a 5 speed. I have had to replace the transmission, transfer case, rear axle, front and rear drive shafts, all brake lines, all e-brake cables, front brakes, front hub bearings and calipers, installed a front shackle reversal, and added an add-a-leaf to the rear to get it to sit level. I have replaced all the body panels except the rear doors and the cab. I have replaced the rear seat, the front seat which is out of a 97 dodge and needs new brackets made to bolt in, and installed a complete new dash because the old one was broken in half. It needs painted and a bunch of other work to get it finished. Who knows when it'll get done because I only work on it in my spare time, and I have none. I did start building a custom front bumper for it and it isn't finished either. But I do use the truck to push other trucks in and out of the shop. Here are the pics:

I don't have any pics of the truck before I started replacing body panels, but it was ugly. The bed sides flapped in the wind because this truck used to have a brine tank in the back, and a plow on the front. The PO told me they only plowed with it a couple times. Yeah right. when I drove it home from his house, 45 miles, I kept hearing a weird clicking and clunking noise at low speeds. When I got the truck home I found the front drive shaft was broken at the cardinal joint. Yep, hardly used the 4wd he told me. I knew it was going to be a long road. Here is what I have of the body so far.

At this point I started installing the lift kit. I still need new shocks, a dropped pit man arm, and have to lengthen the front and rear sway bar links for the lift to be finished.

This truck was built using a 88 F-350 donor I purchased that had this engine already in. It was only a standard cab, and I have always wanted a crew cab ford of this era. So I took the 2 trucks and made one. I used a lot of parts I had laying around because this is on a poor guy's budget. For now the fuel tank is in the bed because this truck's fuel system was rusted beyond belief. I can't believe the truck held gas before. i didn't have any exhaust kits laying around, so I made one and used my 6" stacks I had sitting around. I did purchase some charcoal grey metallic single stage and edged the hood and fenders before I installed them. I have a lot of wiring to finish and repair on this poor truck as well. Plus install my quad pod for my gauges, and run all that as well. Recently I purchased an intercooler from a 2006 Dodge I'll install and have bigger injectors and may put twins on this thing. We'll see how the money tree sprouts first. I've had the truck torn apart for about a year now. At Least I got 2 months of work out of it before I tore it apart. It is a work in progress, and is real close, but not close enough.

It is acceptable to have a Ford. As long as it isnt Ford powered. Nice truck, I want my uncle to take the 12v out of his 91 and put it in his 96 F350 RCLB SRW. Nice damn truck, yours and his.

Thanks Bradley. I can't wait to be able to drive it on the road. Instead of the yard.

Ha! I know what you mean! I had a 72 sittin in my yard for 3 years. I never got a new r&p installed in the rear, so the only time I was in the drivers seat was when it was being winched!

Now, by any chance is that Ford blue that you painted that Cummins? If it is, it suites it real well, being that it's in a Ford.

Re: Another one of my non chevy projects...........

I made some progress on this truck and have been driving it everyday for a couple of weeks. I need to wash the engine compartment horribly and finish tying up wiring. I still have a bunch to do to it, but it rides and drives awesome! The power isn't where I'm used to and that will be addressed soon too.

It never had a Getrag. It's got a ZF5 that was stock in this truck.
