What is a Cummins worth?

I have a good friend who just recovered his stolen Dodge diesel. The thief wrecked it being chased by the police. It went into a ditch and turned up on it's side, apparently after going over a huge curb. Most likely a complete total. All the wheels are broke, has suspension damage and the the transfer case may be broke also. I think it is a '09, 4x4, crew cab, about 120,000 miles. If it runs fine, what is a reasonable price for the engine? It would be a great swap in my 72 Cheyenne 4x4.

09 would be the 6.7. heavily smogged engine and heavy electronics. id skip that one for a retrofit and get a 12v

Re: What is a Cummins worth?

I bought an entire 1993 3/4 4X4 Dodge with cummins for $1000. The auto trans was blown.

Re: What is a Cummins worth?

If it is a good running 6.7 he's sitting on about $5k or more for engine and ecm and such. The smog/emissions stuff can be done away with for a swap. 6.7's are good engines too.
