4 inch lift- 33or 35's
Hey guys I have a blazer with a 4 inch lift on it. I cant decide on which size tire to run with. I origanally thought of 33's but then I was told that 35's would work as well.I dont want to buy 33's and wish I had gone with 35's and vise versa. So if you all can tell me or post pics with these different combos to help me decide i would really appreciate it. I know i will have to re gear but need to decide on tire size first.thanks again

My fav set up at that height was 33's and velvet ride shackles in the rear for a nice ride and some extra articulation.
If you go 35's...a 6" lift will be needed....however....35's and a 6 inch lift will rub under full compression and the fenders will have to be trimmed.... azblazer@bresnan.net....email me and i'll send some pics of the 4 vs. 6 looks. DW

What year is the blazer and what suspension did it have stock?
Cause my 76 can run 33s stock... I would think with a 4 inch lift, I could fit 35s no sweat. However, I've seen some of the 80s Blazers with 10 bolts that look like 33s is all they could fit with a 4 inch lift.

I'm thinking back in the day the L78-15 was close to a 26.5" tire....
Never thought about shodding a stock K5 blazer with 33's as it wouldn't be very productive....the first time you had the thought to go offroading the lack of suspension movement and the size of the tires would become an instant issue. My 79 is my daily driver and offroad rig...and is teetering on the verge of full time trail rig due to lockers...dents...etc. She made it in offroad magazine last year...they had a winching article and some of the shots were of me and a fellow K5 owner who both got hung up on a water fall...and were in the process of winching off...in that pic i was still in 4 inch lift mode with 33's....and was pleased how well the combo worked to run some nasty trails in az....(RawDeal...lower section...parts of lower terminator...etc.)....when i made the 6" lift job i went with 35" MTR's....under full compression we had issue's up front and required the use of a sawzall to clearance the fenders....but i guess if one just kept their rig as a DD and pavement only the sawzall part could be left out....march of this year the 79 reappeared in OFFROAD in an article called fullsize frenzy with a color shot of the 4 inch and 33's flexed out pretty good...if you have that rag laying around take a look... Right now I am running 31s and they look tiny. My friend ran 35s on a late 80s K5 with a 4 inch lift and he never had a problem off-road. We aren't hard-core 4 wheelers though... we just like to trail ride and hit some pits.

Haven't had time to just get out and do some mild fourwheeling since i moved to colorado...been to Moab a couple of times and the last time we ran cliffhanger...pretty nasty trail in spots where you really need the suspension articlation...right now i run a "springer suspension" in the rear of my K5...it was developed by my buddy Marv Springer...
He just sold the rights to az kickin offroad in tucson az....if you go by the garage over at coloradok5.com they have their banner at the top of the page as they sponsor that page...they have renamed the suspension AK57...basically its a customized ford f150 57" spring...and you end up with 2 feet of articulation....love it. No more tippy feeling when you crawl something as it keeps all 4 planted... DW

thanks guys for your replys. Tink my blazer has a 12 bolt rear and a 10 bolt front, thats about all I know about the suspension. The 30's that I have on there now look tiny.

I have a 74 blazer. Last month i put on a 4 inch pro comp lift with optional rear springs. I easily fit 35 BFG's!

2.5 inch rancho fronts with a ORD Zero rate shifting the front axle forward 1 inch and I clear 35's Little fender trimming but the innerfeder is uncut and in stock location.
The exact lift on the front is 3.75 inches with the Zero rate. No scrub but My front drive shaft is too short and I am not running corss over so my shockes are about 3 inches too short to prevent over extension.
