Sweet shop, sweet renderings. One question; is it me or does the rendering look like a longer bed than a SWB? Not quite a long bed but longer in front of the rear wheels than a normal shorty. Or maybe I'm just...

Thanks Frizzle! I think i know what you guys are talking about but i don't see it. I think it might just be the angle. You know now since you guys are pointing that out i am going to be staring at the rendering for hours until i see it and once i do i will always see it like that. Thanks alot........

Just playing!

On another side note hopefully Carter will understand my drawing of the interior and will do a rendering of the interior as well. I am really stoked on that because i know what i want but having a hard time desing it so it flows nice in my head. Also i will have real progress pics hopefully next week. My new tool should show this coming wednesday afternoon and then i can make my inner fenders for the bed and get that all wrapped up. I remade the inside bedsides a little different so after i get the inner fenders made I will snap some pics. Happy Easter everyone!!!!!!!

Re: Finally my own build thread!

Well it has been a crazy week or two. I'll start with the really great news. My wife and I just found out thats she's pregnant. We are totally stoked. Hopefully its a boy but we will see. The other good news is that i finally saved up enough money to get the bead roller i have been wanting. I got a Mittler Brothers 36" bead roller with the upgraded motor so it can safely do 16-18g steel. So i finally got to build the inner fenders for the bed because i was waiting for the bead roller. I am extremely happy with the overall turnout especially since it was my first ever built fender. I am actually excited to build the other side which hopefully get it done this week. I also build new inner bedsides. I went with something simple and clean. I figured after there painted it will look better simpler. I made it so the fenders bolt to the bedsides because it will be easier to paint and color sand if there not in the way. Anyways heres a bunch of pics. I got a little photo happy.

Re: Finally my own build thread!

a few more pics. The pic with the new bed side is designed so the wood will slip underneath that lip for a clean install. The bedside is just sitting there and i still have to cut out the original bedside and do some work around that. Plus this was taken before the inner fenders were built so now the cutout matches the cutout in the bedsides to the inner fenders. I also changed the way the front bedside panel looks. I matched the clean and straight lines of the new bedsides all the way around. Pics will explain better when i get around to take those pics.

I used the tank roll die. It took a little getting used to because the tank roll die has a straight lip on a part of the die so you have to guide the flat part by hand. Its a little easier that it sounds. I have a friend who just got the spoiler die. I am curious to hear his responce because he has the tank roll also. Thanks for the complement!

Thanks everyone else for the complements.

Re: Finally my own build thread!

First off, CONGRATS on the new addition! Kids rock We have 2 and the 3rd on the way, so I'm sure you'll enjoy every bit of it.

The pics of the truck are nice too, its obvious you do a quality job. The hinges for the wood planks is a nice touch. It may be the camera angle, but are you planning on having the cantilevers exposed through the truck bed?

Congrats to yours on the ways also!! I can only imagine that 3 kids is going to be a full time job. Are they close together in age? Regarding the truck yes the shockwaves are going to be exposed above the wood floor. I wanted them to be a focal point and to be a little different than everybody elses truck. I am not sure if understand what "hinges" mean. Are you refering to the lip on the bedside panels and fender to hide the edge of the wood? Talk to you soon.

Josh

Also congrats to you!!! Yeah i am expecting alot of work but thankfully i have a wonderful wife to help out. My younger brother has 2 kids (2yr girl, 8month boy) and they are alot of work but i get excited everytime i get to see them which is quite a bit. Luckly my brother had his kids first so i got to see first hand how much work and patience you must have. It was a good warm up for me.

THanks for the complements!

Re: Finally my own build thread!

abadsvt,

I've been scanning all the pages of this build and haven't seen it yet.....

Did you ever post up the details on teh wheel/tire combo? Those look like Foose Nitrous (my favorite!) but I was curious about the diameters/widths and what sort of tire sizes you ultimately decided on.

The look is REALLY balanced and aesthetically "right", so you've got me wondering.

oh, and subscribed.

Yeah they are FOOSE Nitrous wheels that i bought chrome and had the centers powdercoated charcole grey. If i remember right the front wheels are 20x8.5 4" backspacing and the rears are 20x10 4.5" backspacing. They are 5x4.75 bolt pattern and the tires are 245/35/20 (front) but will be switching to 245/30/20 and the rears are 275/30/20. I agree they do fit really well on the truck. I had to switch to a pre-70 rear end (the shorter one) to fit the rear wheels. I hope i answered your questions. Let me know if i didn't.

Congrats on the new move! Having that extra space is awesome! Glad the rendering can motivate you as it has motivated me. Now get back to work!
