thank again for the time. I am going to try to straighten up my brake lines a bit. I think the way I have it now will work, I just want to make sure I have clearance between the inner fender and frame for the lines now.....

Going back to the paining - Did you do the two tone base colors first, and then come back and clear them (assuming its BC/CC) as one? Or did you do the BC/CC on both colors separately? I'm curious if you could take me through the process.

I shot the silver first, mask all the silver off then shot all the blue. Unmask then clear all at once. That’s the way I’ve shot two-tones for years.

Thanks for the reply - how long do you let the Silver flash before you masked it? I'm thinking thats the most efficient way to paint it, but worried I'll pull the first coat off with my tape line if its not dry enough.

Depends on basecoat, I waited around 30 mins at 70 degrees. Need to be sure to use high quality tape and rub it across your jeans to remove some of the sticky before taping with it.

luke,
i hate to bother you again but I was wondering if you might share (for me) some info. related to the AC system. I am wondering what size hose you used on the LS motor water pump to the VA system where it connects to the line above the line that has the valve attached? I think the motor is a larger connection than the connection line on the Vintage Air system? I guess I can just tighten down onto the V.A. connection? just wanting to double check...

yes I know what your talking about, for some reason Vintage air is using both heater core ports as 5/8" vs the common 5/8" and 3/4". luckily for me the Holley Mid-Mount accessory drive that I used has screw in hose fittings so it was easy for me to use two 5/8" hose fittings. what accessory drive are you hooking up to? maybe I can help.

Bodyside molding going on, I bought the roll and cutting to fit, I figured the precut stuff wouldn't fit very well. one of my favorite things I did to the whole build was having all the OE hardware stripped and clear zinced, I think the door latches and bolts look good against the blue. a big goal was to get this truck quiet inside, covering the doors should help.

What is that material your covering the door with? Did you do any dynamat on the inside of the door shell?

I believe that more noise comes through the doors than the floor.

I am not sure what "accessory drive" I have? I guess I am using the factory drive system (motor is completely stock)? the V.A. kit I have is the sure fit system for the '86 truck (w/ fact. AC) & then I have the LS motor compressor relocation kit. to be honest I am not sure which way the Flow is on that line? I wonder if i could just attach the 3/4 hose and "sinch down" onto the VA connection..... any assistance would be very greatly appreciated!!!

Vibro Solutions closed cell foam, I did use some 2mm Vibro Solutions mat inside the doors too.

500 miles on the build so far, after some tuning work I’m really happy how it turned out. Looking to have some OE seat belts re-webbed to replace the aftermarket belts I’ve tried to use.

I'm impressed by this build. Truly top notch work and the end result is incredible.

I'm also impressed with the speed of the build - you went from primer to a completed truck in less than 2 months!

Thanks all! Mattchu60 it wasn't quite that quick, however I did do the entire build in 1 year from start to finish. it was fun but I won't be doing that time frame again.

Totally enjoyed following this. And like watching a good movie, I'm bummed it's finished, ha! Glad that you get to enjoy it and I hope that you'll show us pics of it out and about and any more updates. Most of us can only dream of having a truck this nice so don't end the movie yet!
