Where is the factory lower paint line on a 1969-72? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I'm mostly concerned about the appearance of the wheel wells. I've heard that paint line is center the molding holes, but I imagine that applies to the upper moldings (tailgate moldings too), not the lower moldings. Am I on the right track?

I'm working on a Custom Deluxe, which has a lower tailgate molding instead of a Cheyenne band. Unless I'm mistaken, shouldn't the lower paint line on the sides match the lower paint line for the lower tailgate molding?

I don't know if it has the factory lower pain line, but here's a rough description of this truck:

:14 mark, LH fender: The line appears to be center of the lower molding.

:31 mark, RH fender: The line appears to be above the center of the lower molding. Ha, maybe this isn't a good example. Hard to tell with pictures sometimes.

2:46 mark, rear fender well: The line appears to be above center of the lower molding

3:33 mark, rear bed: The paint line is above center of the lower molding. It some configuration of the upper portion of the molding. Then again, as mentioned above, I think it's supposed to match the paint line on the tailgate.

Probably make more sense to me using a string line.

With assys, the guide accts for 1000s of OEM identifications and part numbers, all written in short order. 700+ images include assm, illust., charts, and points of interest.
