FEDEX and hidden charges!!!!
to help save everyone on the board and myself money I opened my own FEDEX account. Well after a few months of using it now I just started looking at the detailed info on my invoice.
one was $6.50 additional handling for a piece of tailgate trim??? this didn't come up when I printed the waybill. another was an item rated at 47.1 lbs when it was actually 10lbs! I understand "dimensional wieght" as they call it but it doubled the price of shipping!!!! So I use their "dispute button" on the website. It allows you to type 21 characters in to explain your dispute! WHAT A JOKE!!! so I get an email today saying that my diputes where denied... go figure. I emailed customer support and threatened to cancel... anyone else have issues or a better shipping company? I just want to pay what I am quoted, sounds fair doens't it?

Re: FEDEX and hidden charges!!!!
Now you see what we go through every day. We use the USPS every chance we get. I just wish they shipped larger items. We use all the major shippers and I don't think you will find any one of them better than the other. I still prefer Fedex over the others. Don't even get me talking about UPS/OVERNITE trucking. I would deliver it myself before we use them again. I wish customers would kind of plan ahead a little and not wait until they absolutely need it and then want it now. It costs $ to ship quick. Theirs is not much anyone can do about the shipping costs.

Re: FEDEX and hidden charges!!!!
I'll just start using my local shipping center. They charge extra but atleast I know what i'm paying up front. Bad thing is that it will just pass on to the buyer which is what I was trying to avoid.
Good things is that i've sold most of my stuff now so I won't be doing much business this winter...

Re: FEDEX and hidden charges!!!!
Mike, I started a thread on this crap awhile back from DHL. I disputed both times and and won. Fedex has never pulled this yet with me. I'll be sure to look out for it though.

Re: FEDEX and hidden charges!!!!
My Brother got hit by a semi while he was driving a fed ex truck. They did absolutely nothing for him when afterwards. Needless to say I don't use them anymore unless I have to.

Re: FEDEX and hidden charges!!!!
A lot of FEDEX trucks and drivers are actually independent contractors. I worked with a guy that owned two trucks. They pickup at the FEDEX center, deliver and dropoff. So even though it says fedex and the guy is wearing thr golf shirt from FEDEX he actually isn't an employee of FEDEX, he either owns it himself or works for the trucks owner.

Re: FEDEX and hidden charges!!!!
I HATE FEDEX!!!!!
always had problems with them dropping my packages at the wrong address, leaving packages where you will never find them, like the direct tv remote we ordered to replace a defective one that was wrapped in a plastic bag,and thrown in the tall grass next to my mailbox!that was missing for about a month before I happened to stumble upon it.i cant say it enough I HATE FEDEX,if i know a company uses fedex I refuse to order from them, period! |

Re: FEDEX and hidden charges!!!!
We use fed ex ground whenever possible simply because of cost. None of the shipping companies I care for really. UPS daily pick up fees are twice Fed Ex ground. On a shipment I just got in, UPS charged $82 to ship two boxes. I ran the numbers through Fed Ex ground and was $47, but our supplier doesn't use Fed Ex so I was stuck paying the costs. Best thing to do is if you don;t ship a whole lot, is too have an account for the discount and pay cash at their drop off so they don't have access to your card where they can go back and revise their charges.

Re: FEDEX and hidden charges!!!!
I haven't had any trouble with Fed Ex yet but I did with DHL, same issues you have with Fed Ex. I think they all try to screw you somehow.
