Re: Show us what you got!!

Here's my $500 Blazer I just picked up. It even came with extra seats from a 86-91 Blazer that I won't use and will end up selling. The blazer is said to have a 400 engine but I haven't ran any numbers to verify. It has almost completel interior minus carpet but the most part it's all there. I have gotten it to fire up and idle but with no mufflers and straight pipes the neighbors didn't like it. It has a Th350 and NP203. Not sure of the gear ratio on the axles yet but will crack them eventually. Right now I want to get it street legal and the rear window to work rolling up and down. It needs alot of TLC but it's nothing I'm not used since owning a 74 K-5 and a few other 73-87 trucks. The body actually has one bad spot in the rear quater panel but not bad for it's age and being a off road use truck.

Here's mine:

My Grandfather decided to move it without the keys here.
My Brother and I out playing with our K5s here.
Last spring, it flooded and I'm showing the watermark on a tree in the river bottoms here.

Re: Show us what you got!!

A proverbial "barn find" I bought in March 2006, a 1977 Blazer Chalet serial number 1747... it had over 121,000 miles but must have been kept under cover out of the fierce Arizona sun for decades because that is the original factory paint.

Wow! I just got it off WITH that pic!! Thats a sexy machine!

If possible please share info on your suspension and drivetrain. Is the rear end stock and what BS and size are those wheels and tires? I want to get my 2wd closer to terra firma and i need to know what my options are.

On the back, I found that 92-94 full size blazer 4x4 springs will work on a 73-81 2wd blazer. I put the springs on the bottom of axle with 2" shackles. With 17x10 AR wheels and 275-60-17 BFG's. I have about 3.5" before it hits the frame; I am putting on air bags on top of the springs to help the ride.

On the front, it is belltech spindles and spring with a coil cut off. With 17x8.5 AR wheels and 255-50-17 BFG's. I will be putting air on the front too. I will post pic's as I do this.

Motor 406, with built 350 and 3000 stall, a 12 bolt with 410 gears..

If you need any help or pic's just let me know, I have put about ten years into this. But it has been a blast to drive!!!

Thanks,
Trav

Re: Show us what you got!!

haha. well it started with just the 73 2wd Blazer. My dad got it around 25 yrs ago but it had been sitting in the yard untouched for about the last 15yrs. I have been wanting to fix it up since before I got my license.

But anyways once I started actually lookin at it, I decided since it was rusted so bad it would be easier to just buy a newer one and swap the body over to the 2wd frame being that is what I wanted. Basically everything on the frame has been replaced for the most part (new fuel and brake lines, fuel cell, every single bushing is polyurethane, 4:10gears, lowered 4/6 etc..).

The newer blazer I got is an 87. I had to do a couple small modifications to make it fit on the frame (mainly having to do where the floor drops down for the feet of rear passengers). New patch panels were put in where the floor/rocker had some rust. I wanted the full top and I already had all the parts so that got changed over. The 6 pt. roll bar was for 2 reasons, because I plan to go fast and also to help support the body being the top was cut. Front end will be the 89-91 4 headlight grille, but got 88-98 chevy truck 1 piece headlights that I'm going to hack up and retro fit some HID projectors in.

As far as the motor, I'm not positive on what yet, I'm thinking maybe a big block and a procharger and built 400 for the tranny. I have a feeling I will end up having to change the 12 bolt posi but we will see how all of that goes.

haha sorry about the long post. I have been browsing through these forums for a few years, just never posted. I have been workin on this blazer for little over a year now.

Re: Show us what you got!!

Just purchased the Gray 1973 blazer, I have to drive to arizona to pick it up, 1500 miles ouch.
The blue Jimmy is a 74 and is rather rusty so I purchased the 73 to put on the 74's frame with the 454, dana 60 front 14bolt rear, turbo 400, np 205. I hope my project look as good as all of the picks here.
Great looking rides guys,
