1970 Chevy C30 1 ton

Hey I recently bought a 1970 Chevy C30 and I’ve been looking for brake parts all I can find for the most part is C10 and C20 when I look. I’m just wondering if they are the same or not. Drum brakes of course. Thanks for the help. I’m looking at doing a complete brake job. Maybe a new master cylinder and new steel lines maybe and new rubber lines for sure. I’m new to the forum and I’m liking it a lot. Very helpful and nice people on here.

Re: 1970 Chevy C30 1 ton

They seem to be harder parts to find on the C30’s
Try going to an independent tire and brake shop
Over The years I had the same shop do my fleet of several c30’s
Somehow he was always able to find what was necessary
He’s been in business for 30-40 years and does
ALL size cars, trucks, tractor’s etc ( not just cookie cutter jobs)
I’m sure there must be someone in your area that has that kind of knowledge, that can point you in the right direction

Re: 1970 Chevy C30 1 ton

If it were mine, I would be looking for a square body donor to convert to disc brakes in the front. And at some point swapping to the 14 bolt solves the brake availability problem long term. Post pics of your truck! We love pics.

I think Centric has rear drums now. I'd be converting to 14 bolt stuff. Should be a bolt on.

I have a set of new brake pads that might be for a C30, they are extra wide and didn't fit my C10.... that is if you ever need front brake pads.

Here’s how you do pics on the ole iPhone

Use the Go Advanced button

Then the paper clip

It will open a new tab/window

Use the Choose File button

Use Photo Library

Pick your pic/pics, I can usually get 3 at most to work...

Use the Upload button

Then after they have loaded, use the Close This Window text in the upper right (not a button)

The new tab/window will close and return you to the original tab/window

Then Submit ReplyName: 37180361-0C48-44E9-834B-FA4F61182B3D.jpg

Re: 1970 Chevy C30 1 ton

I quit using my laptop to post pics since it’s easier to use my phone. I’d say it’s about the only thing that is easier, Internet-wise.

This ^^^. Your truck will stop much quicker and it'll probably save you money.

Thanks for the help I figured it out. I just bought this truck and it’s rough right now but I plan on fixing it up. It runs and drives good though.

I like it! It is in better shape than my 67 GMC 3500 1 ton that I recently bought. Wish mine had those top amber lights!

Re: 1970 Chevy C30 1 ton

Thanks I might just leave it rusty because I like it like that. What could I use to keep the rust from spreading and rotting the metal out though?
