Question about brakes on a 70 GMC blazer

Would the above have drums or disks? It should be a open knuckle axle, correct?

Re: Question about brakes on a 70 GMC blazer

I believe 69 would have been closed knuckle and drum brakes.

70 should be open knuckle & drums.

Re: Question about brakes on a 70 GMC blazer

Blazers never came with closed knuckle front axles. The '69s and '70s came with an open knuckle drum brake setup.

I assumed that drums meant closed knuckle. Did any chevy trucks come closed knuckle?

FWIW, now that i know blazers and trucks are the same... 69 was a split year for the closed or open knuckle front ends. disk brakes started in 71. which makes as late 69 and 70 drum open knuckle front ends kind of a 1 off thing...
