The mystery mirrors

Can anyone tell me what these mirrors are called or where I could find a set of them? They look like a strange version of the camper style mirrors.

Re: The mystery mirrors

I think if they were powder coated argent they would look fine. Tie in to the rest of the truck better.

Re: The mystery mirrors

CG, diidn't the GMC you got from Livrat have those on the Chevy Doors? I always thought they were a GM accessory, but they have an RPO code. I'm not sure if all these are the same mirror. They were fully adjustable plus some now have different heads. I think Roberk (sp?) also made similar ones.

Re: The mystery mirrors

I just posted this one on the Craigslist finds thread. The SPID doesn't list any mirrors though.

Re: The mystery mirrors

I'm not sure which are GM now. The Op's mirrors are definitely added on post-factory since you can see where the standard mirrors were mounted... which would not be listed on the SPID. I see different lower mounts on some. Thanks CG for the close-up. I sure like that truck you showed, First Owner. Sierra Grande with no upper trim. Hmmm.... Could be a repaint I suppose. I've seen GMC in Dark Olive, but it was a Chevy-only color. I've seen lots of exceptions to the Chevy-only/GMC-only paint colors though.

Re: The mystery mirrors

I don't think it's a repaint. The rockers are gone, and, the thing that makes me think it's original paint, it still has door edge guards. I doubt they are kept very often. Maybe it's just me, but I hate the things.

Re: The mystery mirrors

I believe that could be true. The one thing that throws me off is the lack of upper trim. I know things could be deleted. My first one of these trucks was a solid color Highlander with no lower trim. It was a trade-in in '73 I bought at a Chevy dealership. It was practically new and certainly unaltered. But why get a Sierra Grande at all if all you are getting is the dash woodgrain and a tailgate handle cover? That emblem under the front marker was added. I guess why ask why, it just ain't me.
