rhodog77. How are you getting the gas from the tank for your mechanical
pump? Did you add a fitting to the bottom of the tank? Got any picturs of the tank with plumbing? Thanks.

Re: '50 5 window.....s10 swap

Well..................

Out of nowhere......A guy came over to the house and saw my project. Next thing I know he is handing a lot more cash than I have into it.....and it was gone. I really wasnt planning on selling but couldnt turn it down. I accomplished everything I wanted to. I built a working vehicle from the ground up. It still needed work in my eyes but it was a working, running street legal vehicle. Its a little sad to see it drive away....until I reach into my pocket and feel the funds for my next project. Not sure if I will do another AD truck right away. My cousin Nate owns www.porterbuiltstreetrods.com and has some killer air ride setups for the 67-72 c10's.

Thanks for everyones tips, tricks, advice and kind words. You guys and this build thread definetly helped me thru the slow times of this build.

Thanks again!!!!!

Re: '50 5 window.....s10 swap

aw man, to each their own I guess. IMO there is no cooler looking truck than and AD. To have one you built is even better. Sad to see it go man, this is the second thread that has happened to. But yours was farther along than the other guys. Good luck with the cash and the next project. Times seem to be gettin a lil harder for some folks so I guess cash is king at this point for some.

Re: '50 5 window.....s10 swap

Yeah I love the AD's too. It was really cool to see my project driven away instead of being towed away. The guy who bought it "accidentally" stomped on the gas when he pulled out of my drive. Left a 40 foot burnout. That motor was very strong. This guy does some great bodywork so Im sure he will finish it. Cant wait to see it.

Got some news today. friend of a friend of a friend..... tipped me off to a guy who is selling off his entire collection of cars and project, 67 vehicles in all. He has my dream car. A 53 hardtop belair, all stock. Im going to look at it this weekend. I consider myself a truck guy but the hardtop is my dream car.

Re: '50 5 window.....s10 swap

are you using an aftermarket sender and gauge? assuming 12v?

original tank?

did you gauge quit working or is this a new set up?

Re: '50 5 window.....s10 swap

using the tpi tech gauges, 12V, brand new out of box. Mine shows 1/2 tank when the tank is full, using 1986 s-10 tank from the s10 swap I did.

Re: '50 5 window.....s10 swap

Hey vintage,

I did have to adjust the float. Make sure that your float is extended to the furthest part of the accuator rod. There was a plastic tray in the bottom of my tank. I notched that tray so that the float would fully extend to the bottom of the tank in order to get the gauge to ready correctly when empty. The only way it wont read correct when full is if the float isnt pushed to the end of the rod or if the rod itself is getting stuck, maybe on the tray. Hope this helps. Let me know if you getting working. The guys from TPI are pretty helpful as well. Did you get your tail lights figured out?

Re: '50 5 window.....s10 swap

thanks for the info. as for the taillights, I haven;t found anything yet that is about a 3" round that has the 3 bulbs for turn, brake and driving lights. What did you use?

Re: '50 5 window.....s10 swap

Vintage,

I got mine at tractor supply. I cant remember what the part number was. They were 3 inch lights. You will only need one bulb to accomplish park, stop and turn lights. You just have to make sure that you buy lights that say "park and turn" They will also say "double function" The funcitonality of the lights is determined by how they are wired. Basically when you look at the bulb you will see 2 fillaments inside. If wired correctly, one fillament will light up when you hit the parking lights, both light up when you activate you brake switch. The turn signal switch basically interupts the flow thru the flasher relay. One tip, my lights had one red and one black wire coming out of the socket. I assumed that the black was a ground and the red was hot. I was WRONG!! The black wired into the parking light side of the headlight switch and the red tied into the turn signals and the brake switch. You will not need a ground on a double function light. The light itself grounds out to the body. Thats why its a good idea to run a ground from the frame up to the bed. Hope this makes sense. Let me know if you need help. I can try to walk you thru it once you have your lights. good luck.

Re: '50 5 window.....s10 swap

Just found this thread. Nice! BUT...! After clicking on this link in rhodog77's message #231 (http://www.tpigauges.com/5_quad_sets.htm) I keep getting a warning of suspicious activity, been asked to call microsoft's tech. I had to shut down and restart my laptop to get rid of this situation. I hope nobody else gets this problem.

Once again, eventhough I'm pretty late, congrats on your build rhodog77!
