Beautiful c10 right there. The am radio was optional. Check your spid on the glove box door if it's still there

Radio was not standard equipment on any 67-72. Simply, your truck was not ordered with an optional radio.

Nothing mentioning a radio on the SPID.

Re: 67 No factory radio option?

I thought it was standard. Would there be a delete in its place of a radio?

Yes, A rectangle plate the same color as the dashboard to cover the radio holes.

Re: 67 No factory radio option?

Another '67 MY quirk: Don't freak when you turn the light switch on and the Parking Lights go out when the Headlights come up. That's normal for this model year. They will still blink as turn signals.
A lot of Federal safety changes [including side markers] were mandated in 1968.

I had to cut a hole in the cowl for the AM/FM antenna on my '67 K/10 Suburban. No factory radio.
To not interfere with the CB whip * on the passenger side; I put it on the drivers side. PO had put in an Alpine cassette/receiver deck but had a loose stick antenna on the dash.
[* Yes., it was a long time ago.]

Re: 67 No factory radio option?

Radios back then were mostly AM and AM radios do not require the antennas like FM ones do.

I have owned many AM radios when I was a child, and NONE of them had an exterior antenna. Only the FM ones. I think AM radios use an internal wire for antennas.

These AM truck radios had horrible reception even with the telescoping antennas extended to their full length. I never saw any radio equipped vehicle without an antenna prior to the change that placed a different type of antenna on/in the windshield glass. Are you sure those you experienced as a kid just had some sort of hidden antenna?

Re: 67 No factory radio option?

All the vehicles with AM radio I have ever seen had an antenna. They used to say FM required a 31" mast. That is the only deference between AM/FM I have ever known. But now that FM became standard I see a variety of lengths. In the '80s I bought a less than 12" flexy rubbery antenna for my work truck with ladder racks. Work perfectly, so not sure what that 31" thing was about. Ideal length but apparently doesn't matter.

Re: 67 No factory radio option?

As far as I knew my AM radios typically did not have any external antenna. But I may be wrong.
My 67 GMC 3500 had a factory AM radio in it, but NO antenna on the cowl or anywhere else. The cowl does not even have a hole for one. Confusing!
