2.5 exhaust kit
Anyone ever use this kit from truckexhaustkits.com? I like the option that you can get it to exit right behind the tire instead of toward the bumper. Looks like it fits well in the pictures. Just wondered if anyone has used it and if they had fitment issues. Thanks!

I didn't use that kit, but it looks very similar to the Hooker kit I used. I used Hooker 16621HKR. It has 2.25" pipe which uses stock manifolds and exits in the stock location, angled out behind the tires. I'm very happy with how mine turned out. I used some longer Dynomax mufflers. It sounds healthy at idle and under acceleration, but quiet while cruising.
I will say this about exhaust kits: they will generally work, but be prepared for a lot of little adjustments to get them the way you want them. I had to put a small indent to clear the starter, move a brake pipe, and slightly bend one of the tailpipes. I had to be a little creative with the hangers too. It takes a bit of trial and error to get it just right. |

I assume the kit works with long or short bed. You might want to confirm that if your truck is a long bed. And make sure the pipes are aluminized!
You know you'll have to make the connections from the collectors back to these pipes, right? You'll need some lengths of pipe for that, and may need to weld together some bends. An aftermarket trans crossmember might make things easier. Finally, I'd suggest using band clamps instead of old-school clamps that crush the pipes. I’ve put on several exhaust kits over the years. I’m definitely no stranger to making things work. I just haven’t seen where anyone has bought one of these kits and what they thought of it. Seems strange to me because they are all over eBay and on Amazon as well.

i worked in a muffler shop a 100 years ago and all i did was bender work so i know all about fitting and fooling.i have never used those kits but that one looks ok,but as mentioned,i'm sure they'll require some fiddlin.i make my own but i cheat and buy Waldron's Tailpipes from Waldron's Exhaust in Michigan and make everything else.i've got Waldron's stuff on my 72 big block truck and my 67 Impala wagon.very happy with their stuff.
