Re: My Unexpected '66 SWB-Fleet-Restomod Project!

did they give you a warranty this time?? how much hp did they tell you it will handle now! I've had my transmission rebuilt in my 2000 Silverado with a 4l60e, they put a shift kit in it an a few upgrades and was told it's go for 450-500 hp! that cost me $1000 an I got a 2 yr. warranty or 10,000 miles I think it was

Like the wheels!

Not good on the transmission but hopefully done now, looking forward to the Videos, and a big fan of the Tahoe.

Chad, as it turns out I didn't really need milage limit on MY warranty!
It seems like if I had 150 mi, it would have been sufficient...

Thanks, but hardly done with the transmission right now!
I put 140 miles on it, and somehow it has a problem with reverse....Or maybe I have a problem with the lack of reverse!
I took the transmission back out last night, and now the tranny shop has it for further evaluation....only took me 1:20 to remove this time....This thing has got to work without issue!

Re: My Unexpected '66 SWB-Fleet-Restomod Project!

fingers crossed on the tranny re-rebuild. seems that paying once to a reputable shop would be enough but I'm with ya bro, it's a crap shoot at best. but hopefully the end result will be a good working, dependable trans.

Ha! My fingers are truly crossed Clem!
I put it back in Friday afternoon after work, and it only took about 2 hours working all-by-myself before I was driving it!
I put about 30 miles on it before it started raining for the weekend. LOL!

Looks like somebody lost their space in the garage!

Re: My Unexpected '66 SWB-Fleet-Restomod Project!

Well, I haven't done much posting lately, but I have been more than busy!
The '66 has ate yet another transmission, and now the builder is claiming abuse....really???
I depressed the throttle @ 55mph to pass a car and the trans downshifted to third...when it returned to O.D. it squawked the rear tires...and then there was nothing...
Really? This is a 4L60E with all-new internals, including a 5 gear planetary, an a beast sun-shell and a 2100 stall converter among other things, behind what might be a 450hp small block at tops.
I watch people do this **** all day long at US131 Dragway without problems! WTH?

Other than that, the Trailblazer SS Spun some rod bearings, instigating a total rebuild...including a PCM of NC Fury cam with Brian Tooley valve springs, and Ti retainers. Also, a relocated Oil pump pick-up to aid against starvation on launch, & Cold-Air-Intake with LS7 MAF sensor.
All of this deserved a tune @ BAKER engineering, to make things really work nicely!....This thing flies!!!

My dad & I had taken the time this past week to attend the Day3 portion of HOTROD Dragweek, where I had the opportunity to meet Brian Doisher.

I was VERY far from disappointed with how this turned out!!!!
It is no surprise that Brian's success stems from his firm down to earth beliefs, and the fact that he is a true conversationalist.....Very hard not to like this guy!!!
Here is a pic of his car, if you are not familiar with who I am speaking of...

I laso got a shot of the "Worlds Fastest Street Car 2016" along with my truck just chillin in the background!...So weird that he wanted to park near me! LOL!..Honestly, I parked there hours before he ever arrived!

None other than Jeff Luntz working on the car, getting ready to whip some a$$!

I totally realize that I spelled Jeff Lutz's name wrong!
A very good friend of mine has the last name of Lantz, and I must have combined them somehow in my mind...I tried to edit, but couldn't.

Re: My Unexpected '66 SWB-Fleet-Restomod Project!

On a brighter side of things, I went to a local show this morning, and ended up winning the trophy for the category of "Sickest Ride" ...This was a judged event. Also, over the Labor Day weekend, I went to a "Cars for Cancer" show which had over 750 cars, and placed #3 of the Top-Ten!...I just need to work out all of the bugs...

And the trophy...

Last year, this show was the 1st show that I ever entered this truck in, and it didn't even place...Go figure.

Thanks Dennis!
I cannot begin to explain how nice this truck rides, drives, and runs.....almost all of the time, and in that order!
I love this thing, but I am still struggling with dependability!

Thank you very much!
I appreciate that a lot!
Sometimes it is not quite as attractive to me... While trying to work out all of the glitches...

Hi Mike

Your PM capacity is exceeded

I only landed in Detroit, then flew to St Louis.

Re: My Unexpected '66 SWB-Fleet-Restomod Project!

Hmmmm, Look what followed me home!
I think that it will be O.K. after I buff it out! LOL!
Surprisingly, it drives out well!
This could be the start of an LS-Swap for "Old Blue".
After realizing the effects that some fairly simple mods had on the TBSS, I am thinking that I may slowly work-over this LS, and swap it into the
'66!!!

Re: My Unexpected '66 SWB-Fleet-Restomod Project!

The Tahoe that is pictured has the 5.3, but my TBSS has the 6 litre....
I am thinking about doing a top-end on the 5.3, some good heads, cam & Intake changes...Among other things...
