well you boys wont believe the stupid thing i did yesterday i had some friends over and acting like a fool we put on my new steel cowl hood just to see what it lokked like the took it for a ride around the block forgot to bolt it up in the front and she went flying at about 30 miles an hr straight up and the strait down and bend to hell now its gonna take alot of work to make it look good agiain even if i can....it must have been the budwieser that made me do it

oh man! that sucks. yeah i lost a topper like that. put it on all exited and forgot to put on the clamps. got on the highway and BOOM SPLAT. it hurts

funny story about my dad's topper that flew off. he was driving down the road at 55mph and it flew off-but it spun around like a top and actually landed correct side up! other then a bent corner it was ok and he put it back on. I wouldn't have believed it could happen if it was not my dad this happened to.

sorry to hear about your hood-I'm sure that hurts! sometimes we don't clearly enough after a couple of beers. I usually describe my projects in terms of beers. for example, welding in my front and rear floor pan the other day was a three beer project (not quite done yet). How many beers is it going to take to fix your hood? :-)

I count it as a separate 'project' when I come back the next night to work on the previous 'project' (still have more to do on the floor pan). Hey-it works for me-I feel like I'm completing small projects and the overall project doesn't seem to be moving as slowly.

I had to dodge a pretty good size boat one time when it lifted off its trailer at about 70 mph

Another thing I saw an 18 wheeler run over and scatter 2 jet skies on the innerstate after sliding out of the back of a pickup at about 65mph

well i guess this just gives me more body work practice,i think the only hard part will be around the middle in the front good thing i got plenty of bondo.....it looks like its gonna be about a 12 pack project

That really sucks. Goes to show taking your time pays off. Most of the time I stand back inspect my work be fore I try it. It must have taken a hour after completing install of my new motor, to look every thing over, and then work the nerve to turn the key for the first time! LOL

But I had a shop built hard tonnue cover on my 68 stop side, a freind and me built in high school. It was a drop on, and fit tight with a inner frame that dropped into the box, made of wood. Pretty heavy. Well I was going down the freeway about 80 and a big wind gust came up from the side. It blew off and flew 80 feet off the road over a fence! LOL Broke the corners but it was fixable

Dude, give it up! No, really, give the hood to me so I can modify it for my truck. It's too far gone to be fixed. J/K Just take your time and take one section at a time and you should be OK. I'm no bodyman though, it's just what my friend (a very talented bodyman) tells me.

I used to work in the late 1980's for an office furniture renovation company. I had just collected a van full of office chairs to be re-covered, must have got distracted at the last minute. I jumped into my van, drove slowly out of the car park and hauled ass out onto the main road, where I was met by a rolling rumbling noise, floowed by a loud crash and lots of honking. I looked in my mirror and realised I had forgotten to tie my load in and shut the doors properly and as I accelerated they had all peeled off out of the back door onto the road, along with the large wooden box containg all my sales literature. Kinda like a destroyer laying down a pattern of depth charges in an old war movie! Fortunately they were all going to be renovated and recovered so no harm was done and I even managed to miss everybody behind me, just a little bent pride! Needless to say it did get back to the boss and I got some real s**t from all the guys at the office!

well i guess this gives me the chance to really get what i want im gonna try to cut out the center and add 3 more inches to each side to make it a 5 inch cowl the more i look at it the more i say why not...

I feel your pain man!but I think that hoods toast.I was in the back of my truck one time putting tools in, the truck was on a slope, I was warming it up with the emergency brake on, when I heard that gluuun, well you know what that was, yeh the f#$@king brake let go. I jumped out and grabbed the door handle trying to get in, but it started to roll to fast, so I just skidded with the truck trying to stop it , Like I could (not)well right into my new ladder rack, just mangled the *****, Man I know the feeling, You can bet a few beer went down after that.
