Master cylinder to firewall gasket

Is it needed? Didn't even realize there was one until I pulled the old MC off. The new one didn't come with one. Only came with the rubber seal for the shaft. Thanks!

Re: Master cylinder to firewall gasket

Replaced mine also.Went to two parts houses told them what I needed. They both looked at me like I was crazy and said they never ever heard of a gasket for that.Went to another place told them I needed a MC, I didn't mention the gasket went home and made one.Looks to me one reason is the gasket helps hold the boot in place as there is a tab on the boot about an inch long.

Re: Master cylinder to firewall gasket

I reused my old one. It wasn't in perfect shape but I figured it was better than nothing.
