I'm sure you can get it to work, but with that big of a cam, that crazy of a motor, and this fairly simple unit, it's going to take some doing to get it to run right and especially start right. I Will say that it is entirely possible that yours has some unique problems. I would personally want to maybe even try installing it on a different car/truck with smaller cam and hp to see how it runs with that. That to me would be a good way of determining if it's your setup, or the unit.

Playing devil's advocate again would be to remember that yes, this unit is cheap. It's the cheapest on the market. How do you think they got it to be so cheap? It's probably not going to have the quality that some of the more expensive units like the holley terminator system does such. But those are $2500+!

If you really wanted the absolute best injection for your truck, a fully custom tuned multi port injection system would be best in my opinion. I would personally assume that my truck would need an entire day with a good dyno tuner to get it to run reasonably well constantly.

Backing up a bit, again, I do think you will get yourself dialed in. But I think it's going to require the frustration of it not being as simple as you thought originally. In fact, far from simple.

So that's my opinion. And I give it only in hopes of it bringing back from the edge and remembering that this is a hobby. It's fun but sometimes insanely frustrating and you just have to get through it in as enjoyable a Manor as possible.
Great post!

IIRC FiTech said they ran this on a Mopar with an even bigger cam. It was a bunch of posts back but I believe it was presented as a plug & play NOT what Rod is going through.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

The towel has been thrown in. Just got off the phone with my buddies and they can't get it to run right either. So I have sent Ken and Jeremy a email. Saying I want a RMA# so I can return it and I want a refund.

Right. I think it was somewhat misrepresented as bolt it on and your done, and I think it was misunderstood as a bolt on and your done thing.

Bummer dude! Oh well. Worth a shot I guess. Do you think that as you recover from this experience you will explore a different injection Avenue?

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

I mean I think, that you were lead to believe it was going to be easier than it actually was going to be. I just think this system is not robust enough to work on an engine that is the caliber of yours without a whole lot fiddling with stuff. Either way, I do hope you don't have any trouble getting a refund!

I'm personally of the opinion that this kit shouldn't have been sold to you because I don't think it's a good fit for your scenario. I could be wildly wrong, but that's what I'm assuming. For that reason, I think you should be able to get a full refund.

I hope I get my money back!! Ken told me if it didn't work out I would get my money back so we will see. I don't want to have to file a paypal dispute. It just should be handled professionally they send RMA I send it back and they refund me the money. We will part ways on good terms. And we all can move on.

Disappointing, you've invested a lot of time/frustration and money! I've been following your progress and was planning on going this route myself.

With the documentation you have I couldn't imagine that they wouldn't refund your money.

You would think they wouldn't. But I have yet to hear from them. I have sent 3 emails requesting a RMA for return and a full refund.

Got a email from Ken. They are standup people. I wish this would have worked honestly I do. But sometimes things just don't. For the people who have the FiTech and it works you will love it.

Go with a custom carb? If so from who?
Go OTS and get a QFT a Holley or a Mighty Demon.

Not going fuel injection with another company?
(since your fuel system is set up for it)

Well CRAP, I was hoping you would of got this running.
I actually bummed it didn't work, kinda sucks and I feel bad. Hell, I don't even know you.
At least they honored what they said and will give your refund.
I do wonder if it's the cam or something else that the FiTech had an issue with, it would be interesting to find out what the cause was but the only way that probably could happen is if FiTech had the truck in their possession and swapped parts around till they narrowed the issue down.

Well on a side note, I'll have a carb for sale this spring....hint hint.

Well swamp thanks for caring. Yes that would be the only way or they could come see me. Hang out drink moonshine and go race!!! Lol. I do believe it is the cam and vacuum. No matter what they told me.
I am going to go with a DeVane carb this time around. Custom build to my motor specs.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

So now I have to replace all my fuel line and inline filter. 6an won't work for my HP and a carb. Going up to 8an line and filter. Plus will need to buy a return style regulator and another fuel log. So I will have new fuel line and a filter for anyone who wants it pre cut with ends on it for our trucks. If anyone needs it.
