Wow, that is beautiful..

Hey Doug, what kind/color of paint did you use? My '72 is painted the same way, and I'd like to repaint it. Did you do that yourself or have it done somewhere?

Ahh, the questions..

I'm here. On the West Coast its 9:15. I had to mow the lawn today as there is a break in the rain (Seattle). I been working on getting the speakers on the kick panels tonight. Sat up half the night thinking about it. I bought two speaker pods from roddoors.com. They offer alot of interior parts for our trucks. As far as the paint I can't remember the name of the clear coat the painter used. The pigment is Sherwin Williams. He told me the clear coat is a foreign (Europe) brand. I may be gulible but he told me it has not been approved by the EPA and he was one of the few painters using it. (Must be good!) To make his point he opened up a can and it was crystal clear from top to bottom. No yellow what so ever. I'll find out the name of it. See if any of the painters on the board recognize the brand.

I have a 72 Cheyenne 10 with a V8 350 and a TH-350 auto-tranny.
Ochre/White/Ochre
Runs well... working on body.
Plan to get painted weekend before memorial day weekend.
Planned to be done March 7 when I turned 16. Didn't happen. Chose to do better job and be behind schedule instead of 1/2 doing it and it looking like junk.

Question

Did you do something to the dash, or am I just stunned by that magnificent paint?

Nothing special to the dash. The painter took the buffer to it before I put everything back together. I agree, for some reason it really stands out. I think its the new dash pad, almost the exact same color as the Hawaiin Blue paint.

I drove it tonight for the first time in nearly two years. It still drives like a truck! My 8 year old boy really likes it. I have alot of sorting out to do. Still fighting the temperature gauge. It was pegged to the right by the time I got home but no steam, boiler over, etc. Didn't seem overly hot when I opened the hood. Smelled because of the new paint on the engine and headers. I am going to put the old temperature sending unit back on tomorrow and see if it still reads hot.

That is a beautiful truck, Doug! Do you have any more pictures? I'd like to see what you've got under the hood! What other details can you give us on the truck?

I fixed the apparent overheating problem, I put back in the old temperature sending unit . . . I didn't think it was running hot even though the guage would slowly migrate to the very hot end. I took out the new sending unit in the manifold and cleaned up the old one.
