Re: Started my first frame off - 72 SWB LS1, 6-spd manual

Thanks for sharing your pics....I have a similar build. I have a 72 C10 Shortbed with a 2000 Camaro SS LS1 with auto trans. All of the body is off and getting painted. I'm currently working on the frame. There's not a lot of header options. I think the Doug Thorley's that you have are the best option.

Re: Started my first frame off - 72 SWB LS1, 6-spd manual

I noticed you still have the shifter in the stock location, do you have any pictures of where the shifter ends up inside the cab? I'm doing an LS3 swap in my truck and will be putting a manual tranny in. I was planning to go with an RS600 but it seems like Keisler isn't terribly eager to do business so I'm thinking of going the T-56 magnum route from a different supplier as it seems like there are too many horror stories out there with the TKO's.

Sorry for the late reply. see picture where the shifter is located inside the cab. For now I notched the cab floor 1 3/4" X 3 1/2".

Installed front suspension 2.5" drop spindle & 1.5" drop spring

rear end disassembled for PC, new bearings/seals

rear end and all suspension parts PC. installed 6" lowering springs

cab is set back on for now. Waiting on rear disc brakes and tires to set back on the floor.

Thank you for all of the compliments!!!!

Re: Started my first frame off - 72 SWB LS1, 6-spd manual

nice build, is the shifter going to be under the front seat. looks way back in the pics. i like the finish of your frame, i had mine powdercoated in a smooth gloss and it was the worst mistake i made.

What do you regret about the smooth gloss on the frame? The gloss color instead of satin or something else?

Re: Started my first frame off - 72 SWB LS1, 6-spd manual

if you breathe wrong on the gloss finish it scratches. you have to be way to carefull during assembly. go with a semi gloss finish when you coat it or it will take decades to reassemble it without scratching it. i went with a super wet black, bad mistake.

Good to know. I was trying to make up my mind on which to go with satin or gloss on the frame. That makes the decision for me. Thanks for sharing, I'm sure it will help others make the right choice too.
