It's been a while, out of town for few months, but wife told me to go for it. Happy birthday to me. I can't wait to get this installed. Oh, and while Ive been gone my plates showed up, it's legal after 2.5 years. Boom.

That's an upgrade that I've got on my wish list. Should make for some more "spirited" driving.

Re: TA_C10: Stage 1

Interested in how this performs. I have a stock posi in my 72 Blazer and have never had one before. My 2014 has a G80 locker with 3.42 gears and is a blast to drive. I know the G80 is a ticking bomb but for now is fun. This may be in my Christmas wish list.

Finishing up the hidden hitch, my new extended tongue arrived. It's perfect length at 16".

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Sweet plates brother. Did you get the Detroit locker installed yet? I can't wait to get a ride in this truck!

Not yet man. I've decided to go ahead and repaint cab forward soon. Ugh. But the locker will be just after that.

Re: TA_C10: Stage 1

So I've drove the truck in rain couple times now. And rust starting to come through inside cowl. I was not able to get in there good enough with wire wheel and get it cleaned out obviously. This was 2 years ago and didn't know what I was doing. I have no idea what I can do to fix this without starting over, getting in there cleaning it out then repainting.... Any ideas? Do I even worry about it since it's in the cowl? Will it last 5-7 years?

Re: TA_C10: Stage 1

Decided to finish paint, front half of truck was different shade due to me learning the painting process(too high PSI). Bed color is what I am matching. Bed done at 12 PSI. Front half was various PSI on different panels and also a mix of gun speed trying to figure it out. Yeah.... I know....

Scuffed and almost ready for paint.

Not good painting weather. Humidity this high will cause a possible 'splotchy' appearance.

Re: TA_C10: Stage 1

I, like you, learned the hard way spraying. I painted my dad's 64 a blue metallic and I have the same matching issue between panels. He doesn't seem to mind, but it bothers me. Someday I want to reshoot it...

As far as the cowl goes, I wouldn't lose too much sleep over it. What I would do is scuff it and brush on some Chassis Saver (can go over rust) to lock down the rust. The ideal process would be to strip it of the paint and rust and go over with epoxy primer, but that's more involved than the first option.

Glad you've been driving it!

Yeah it sucks but I've gotten motivated again so it's getting resprayed ASAP. And thanks, I have some POR-15 left or I have Eastwood rust inhibitor. I like option 1, hit it with a brush. Thanks.

I was able to get the hood sprayed yesterday. 2 coats epoxy, 3 coats high build.

From my limited experience & what I learned in school... Your panels should always be 'set-up' for applying color coat the same way they would be positioned on the vehicle; especially w/metallics or a pearl color.

Yeah I've read that several times from different sources, but then I watch these power nation shows and other shows and you see them spraying hoods like I have mine hung. Metallics. Of course they are in a controlled booth and they do this for a living LoL. So my plan is to final sand my hood, paint the underneath side with color. Then install it back on truck and paint the truck put together.

Just a suggestion. You're correct though in that pro's have a definite advantage over the weekender.

Equipment, skill, & experience make things fair much better when having to make choices to ensure quality results.

Ready for paint! I need to finish hood to 600 grit tomorrow, already painted underneath. Install the hood, wipe her clean and start spraying.
