Are these tow hook holes?

Been restoring this 4x4 frame and was wondering if these holes behind the bumper were for tow hooks? If so does anyone offer aftermarket ones?

Re: Are these tow hook holes?

Yep, those are the factory holes for the tow hooks. None being reproduced but there may be a later model hook that matches those holes.

Re: Are these tow hook holes?

So does that mean that the truck came with tow hooks, or did they all come with these holes?

Re: Are these tow hook holes?

Having the factory holes is hit and miss between different models of these trucks. More of the 4x4's had them compared to the 2wd, but either could of had them or not had them, even if they were not ordered with the factory tow hooks originally.

Re: Are these tow hook holes?

On here or ebay. You might luck out as I did years ago and find a couple of sets for $20, but don't get your hopes up. You just got to be quick on the trigger if you want them, but most on here Gene bring good money, as does Ebay. No one reproduces the hooks, and when you find some, make sure they are the right style. Trevor

What do they look like? What's the difference between these and others?

Re: Are these tow hook holes?

Check out an old school bus. My bus has tow hooks as do the others. They're pretty good-sized and mount on the sides of the chassis and may be just the ticket for cheap, in comparison to stock/OEM/NOS.

Here is an Id picture showing the three types of front hooks, I am fairly confident in saying that all 72 K frames had the holes for hooks regardless if they ever had hooks or not, from what I have researched/found/owned or parted is that 71 and earlier K frames only had the holes if they had hooks at some point.

Re: Are these tow hook holes?

Is it possible for someone to post a picture of the top hole on top of the hook frame location. It's covered in the picture

Re: Are these tow hook holes?

I agree with Wes, 72 frames had them regardless, pre 72 only if ordered with tow hooks

Re: Are these tow hook holes?

I can confirm the very early serial number 72 4x4 did not have holes.
