CPP or ECE

I went ece on my drop and it has been a great experience dealing with them... I had an issue where my front end dropped more then it should have. 2 emails back and forth and 1 phone call and I received a new set of springs in the mail today with a return label to send back the other springs... I did the drop 2 weekends ago.
After the 30 min phone call talking trucks and how every once in a while they come across a truck that just drops more then it should. All I have to do now is swap the springs and my truck should be good... If for some reason something is still wrong, I am sure ece will be more then happy to help.

I've bought tons of parts from ECE over the years, starting way before this truck board or basically the Internet even existed. They are customer service and quality without fail every time.

Read the review board to find gobs of bad experiences fellows have had with CPP. Not so much with ECE.

I bought the ECE 4/6 drop and was amazed at the completeness and fit of the kit. This truck isn't my first rodeo so naturally I expected a few hickups and trips to the parts bin...but nope! Every bolt, cotter key, wacher, and part I could imagine was included in the package. I was impressed.

ECE for springs without a doubt. CPP springs are smaller in diameter and softer....A 4" CPP drop spring will produce about a 5" drop as compared to a 4" ECE spring....

Had you bought from CPP you would have been told by a know nothing phone person that you were crazy and if you returned at your expense you would have to wait 2 months for them to check out the springs. They do every thing they can to discourage you from returning anything even though they sent wrong parts.

In 10 and 1/2 years on this site I have never seen a complaint from anyone about anything regarding ECE.

Everyone there is great to deal with.
Only people that have complained about ECE that I know... are the type people that complain about everything.
I have a friend that "will not buy anything again" from ECE, he also complained about the "color" of Vanilla Ice Cream at Dairy Queen. He's a friend for the entertainment value.

I have been looking at drop spindles too. I am tempted to go with the CPP because they claim that they are the only company who's spindles move the wheels inward and others push the wheels out. When I look at pictures of lowered C10/C20s I notice a lot of them have a wider wheel base in the front which looks off to me.

Years ago I ordered some drop spindles and springs for a 68 C10 Big Block truck I was working on but before I could lower it I sold it. A few months later I bought a 71 with a small block, so I called to order up some drop components for it, they asked about the drop kit I had just bought so I explained what happened. They told me if I wanted I could just send the earlier stuff back and they would send me out the correct pieces for my 71.... That won me over right there. You can tell whether a company is focused on customers or profits and ECE knows that if you focus on the customer the profits will come.

That might be true when you use the newer OEM spindles on a earlier truck or,worse yet a bracket kit, but if you buy the spindles that are made for your year you will not move the wheels out. They all use the same 12" rotor so nothing changes there, if you understand how a spindle is made you can see that you can't move the spindle in any farther as you would hit the ball joints/a arm.

Well they must have changed the geometry some how or they are making false claims.Quote from CPP:

"These spindles features are nothing like the truck market has ever seen to date. These spindles are made of Ductile Iron with CNC 4140 Chrom- Moly pins and will not move the wheels out 3/4 of an inch per side like other aftermarket spindles do! These spindles are an Exclusive CPP design, these spindles keep the tires under the truck where they belong!"

Drop spindles do increase your track width, even on direct bolt in ones like ECE's.

I believe the key to CPP is to bypass them and buy from a stocking dealer, let the dealer deal with the service headaches ....! All of the complaints you see about them revolve around their customer service . And yes we are a stocking dealer.

And yes the modular spindles do narrow the track width compared to other drop spindles...... First hand experience...!

And yes ECE sells a great product as well. We have personally used them on customer builds as we'll and have had fantastic experiences with their product as well.
