Re: WTB eventually OEM 68 327 INTAKE MAN & CARB
Pretty sure I can help out with the valve covers. Have two sets of the earlier 350 valve covers. Need a clean, prime and paint but no dents or dings. Will add pics later to this post. Had to stop and think, do you have oil fill tube in intake or twist cap on valve cover?
Also if needing one I have a Rochester 4GC 4 BBL air cleaner in the parts stash. If interested in it I can get pics taken.

I have some intakes. Do you have a casting number and date you are looking for.

My all original '68 C-20 CST has a 327 & TH400. My research indicates that the correct carb would be #7028212. I thought I read somewhere the the even numbers were for auto transmission vehicles and the odd numbers were for manual. If anyone can confirm this that would be nice too... I will check the number on my intake manifold in the morning. LockDoc

When I was researching to find the correct carb for my '68 396 engine, I found that the odd 7th digit could have meant manual transmission OR turbo 400. I could be wrong, but believe it has to do with the kick down switch.

Re: WTB eventually OEM 68 327 INTAKE MAN & CARB
Pics of the 4 BBL air breather I have. Measures 4 7/32'' at carb throat opening which is correct for the Rochester 4GC 4 BBL carb. Very nice condition both inside and out minus the dust and dirt accumulation. Air horn is straight with no dings, rubber gasket intact. $55 plus shipping is what I'm thinking. Would do $75 plus ship after a bead blast, prime and paint. Rather hard to find a decent example without a lot of rust. Let me know if have further interest.

Bummer, I've got a correct 2 barrel carb intake I pulled off of my 68 327 earlier this year. Good luck!

Re: WTB eventually OEM 68 327 INTAKE MAN & CARB
So by that chart the carb number I posted in post #7 would be correct for the '67 Chevy with a 327 and auto trans.....

Re: WTB eventually OEM 68 327 INTAKE MAN & CARB
I see that. I wonder if there are any casting differences from the two. Is there any other way to narrow down the correct intake? suffix code? or block stamped ID?

If you like, compare with my build sheet 26 CARB. -8213 (Excel field D6), 1968 327 with M49 (TH 400 Turbo hydramatic) Interesting opinion from here: http://recarbco.com/tech-help/oem-numbers/ T: Transmission. Even numbers are automatic trans, odd numbers are manual trans. Rochester also doesn’t always follow this rule. This guide is just that: a guide. It is not set in stone, because it is a documented fact that Rochester didn’t follow these rules 100%. It is for Quadra-jet carburetors only. Rochester also had different numbering systems for their other carbs besides the Quadra-jet. Our thousands of pages of information on this comes straight from Rochester. Keep in mind that just because the OEM numbers between two carbs may be different, it doesn’t mean they are different carbs. It’s very possible to have two carbs, their date is 2 years apart, one is for Buick and one is for Chevy Truck, and one is for automatic, the other for stick, and the carbs are identical in every single way, even down to the jets and metering rods. It’s much more common than you might think. Also, many people think they have to have a carburetor with a certain exact OEM number. This can sometimes be very very hard. Most people don’t have to have this, they really only need a carburetor that crosses over the same and is identical. You realistically only need an exact OEM number if you are restoring a car back to original condition to enter into a car show.

Thanks for that info Gerhard. I think that scenario is more common than we all think, and not only for carbs. LockDoc
