Cool 1986 k20 Build Thread

Im going to start the build thread on my 1986 k20 chevy. This truck was sitting for 8 years in my driveway just rotting away and my dad gave it to me. The person i work for gave me a six inch lift kit for free and i decided to start building fixing and building this truck to get it back to life. I then purchased 3 inch blocks to raise it even more!

Awesome build thread... It's not a build thread unless you have lots of pictures. You win the prize for most pics

Awesome work Brad. Your floor looks like my 87 cab floor. I'm still searching for that sweet like what you found on Craigs.
Damn. Man You got lucky there.
You could even recoop some funds by selling your repaired cab

Thankyou. and i plan on selling the dumptruck frame for a few hundred and my p.o.s. cab. ill probably only get about 200 tops because it still needs passenger side floor rockers and cab corners and it needs some work on the body lines on the top of the cab. i just want to get want what i paid for the floor pan inner and outer rocker panels and the cab floor support and front to back brace.

Re: 1986 k20 Build Thread

So this is all i have for now and i can only work on weekends because im only 16 and i have school during the week. i also work at a collision and body shop that my neighbors own so i work everyday after school. working at a body shop is teaching me how to paint, weld, do body work, and that's basically all i need to make a sweet truck. i plan on making this truck a show truck. i originally planned on a woods beater until i scored that cab and bed on craigslist.

Re: 1986 k20 Build Thread

nice work on some major rust repair. one question, post #8 last pic, are those blocks under your front springs? this is a major no-no,get a taller pack or re-arch your springs.

Re: 1986 k20 Build Thread

they WILL get spit out leaving you in a world of hurt. blocks are fine on the rear, not on a steering front axle. google front axle lift blocks. for your safety & everyone around you-ditch the front blocks, just hate to see you wreck all that fine work
