Blinker switch GMC-vs-Chevy

I decided to to install a new blinker switch in the steering column of my daughters 1963 GMC 1500 PU

I am on my third switch from the same vendor and I was told today, it is a Chevy blinker switch, not a GMC, the part will never work.

The three new repo switches all had different malfunctions.

What I have found all the 1963 Chevy & 1963 GMC pickup have the same wiring (wiring colors and wiring responsibilities). The repo switch plugs directly into the existing wiring System.

Anyone ever experience this with the blinker switch ? I feel like I paid good money for this switch and I should not have to take the switch apart and tweak the wire contacts.

Has anyone tweeked the inter wire contacts of the repo switches to make these repos work ?

For me its because I have the Hydramatic Column, NO ONE make a factory or after market replacement, the best you can do is go after market column mounted set up - I did not do that because I don't like the look. YOu can upgrade the column - $$$

1963 GMC Part number 2440829 is a one year only and GMC only part . Super rare. My only suggestion is replace it with a Chevy NOS 1963 switch GM part number 898197. Or buy your switch from American Autowire. They make the best switch. I was able to do that swap in my 63 GMC but used an NOS GM switch. The aftermarket switches fail and remember , its a 1963 ONLY switch.
